Guys I have a solution to security stealing your stuff why don't u just bring a sturdy plastic bag and put anything you want in it whilst your digging through the boxes and then if security comes you can quickly grab the plastic bag and you would have everything you wanted to have ? I went dumpster diving with my cousin and brother on July 18 and it was our second time going but our first time finding actual good stuff that was useful. We were caught by the security officer with 2 employees and they told us that we can't go back. I respected them because they were really nice to us and they didn't act like dicks but the find was unbelievable. There were GameBoys (original, Advance, Advance SP, Mirco, Color), Monitors ( 2 old Asus, 1 Samsung about 24 inches, with HDMI, but needed a new power supply, there was a sticky note on there saying it), xBox 360 and One games, a lot of chargers (Lightning, Mini, and Micro USB) a Samsung Gear 2 Neo smart watch and last but not least a rose gold iPhone 7+ chassis. We weren't allow to go there ever again and didn't get to keep the stuff we found sadly.

From what I know, you should have let them catch you. Once you claim it as your own, it's private property, so they can't take it from you. But because you ran, it's now left unattended, and therefore public property, which they can take as they please.
