You are right about cheap wood. Once I lived in an older house with fireplaces & there were fields around. I was broke at the time & the way I kept warm was to pick up sticks from around the edges of the fields. I used to find nettles & wild garlic to eat & apples from an old orchard too, as well as hazelnuts & blackberries in season. Every evening I would make a fire & then when it died down I would go to bed & read. I was so glad I could find those sticks. The fire kept me warm & was kind of company too & fetching the sticks gave me healthy exercise & got me out in the fresh air. It was a lonely & difficult time in my life but the comfort of the fire & the outdoor exercise each day really kept me going & made it not so bad.

It such a shame somebody had trashed the home. I think it would have looked lovely in it’s day. You are right, they were made of tougher stuff, I don’t think many people would want to live in the middle of nowhere now. I’d love the milk churn, it’d look lovely with flowers in it in the garden 🪴. Bless her, it must have been hard for her to keep up with everything as she got older.

You'd be surprised, but I've been in several hoarder apartments as a landlord and there have been some so bad I can't even step into them! We don't want to think of people in this way, insensitively, but it's a mental condition people suffer from, trying to find meaning in life through things or just not caring anymore. It's sad. Live your life, don'tjust exist! That's how these inspire me.

Hi guys, Just wanted to let you guys know that I really love and appreciate your videos. I also get so excited to see these abandoned places. The amazing detail, woodwork, staircases, furniture, all the old locks and hinges, and the amazing old black and white photographs makes me really excited. Love your stuff!!!so thanks guys and keep up the great work xxx

This lady had good taste in the things she collected over the years. It is so sad that these remnants of her life are sitting there unloved. I hope that looters don’t visit and totally trash this lovely place. They lack the respect that you obviously have for the places you explore
@robingraham45433 жыл бұрын
Yet again another beauty left for nature to reclaim. While it might look like she had a lot of things, I believe they were put away in the dressers and wardrobes only to have nasty people come in and rummage through everything and just throw it everywhere. Thats a shame too. Thats why I like to follow you, Dave, you show so much respect for things left behind. Thanks for sharing!!

What a lovely old place, i like the old stone walls and the big fireplace, Audrey and her husband would have been so cosy in there in the winter bless them. Looks like she made her own jam and i bet she made other preserves and baked her own bread. Audrey must have been in her late 80s when she passed away, going on the car being last on the road in 2012 and she was born 1931. What a shame no family wants to save there house or collect the personal items. Enjoyed the video, you take care and stay safe x

Dave, I've always loved your sentimentality when you visit these places. I, too, wonder what her life was like alone out here, what she did on her last day of life...was she feeling unwell...sad she had no one to cherish the things she left behind. It would be amazing if you could track down the property owners if there are any, (the descendants that don’t want anything to do with the home anymore or whomever), and open up, “David and Marks Abandoned Explorer” museum where the antiques that were otherwise rotting away could be saved for future generations….you could label each exhibit with the homeowners name and picture with some of their story, and a link to the original video to see that item in its natural surroundings. I wish. 🥰

That is not hoarding. That stuff would not fill the space if it was put away tidy. You can see that someone has been through that place pulling drawers out etc & just throwing things aside in their search for valuables. They did not even have enough respect to leave the place as they found it. Sadly lacking as people. If you went back & put things away you would see what I meant.

I love how almost every one of these places has stuff in place. The sink has rubber gloves over the taps, other places you'll see cups with a tea bag in ready to go. I think one of the saddest things is the fact that the majority of these people expected to go home or didn't expect to leave 😢

Poppy is sitting on top of the bottle as you were talking about the dolls head and not being able to find it. This place is a great explore. All that stuff thrown on the floor and around the room probably had a special place to sit and you would not have even seen it when she was alive. Someone trashed it looking for something. Apparently they couldn't find it and just trashed it. Poor lady lost her husband then lived there alone. So sad when you think about it. I bet it was a show place when she was alive all sparkling and shiny. Living there would be great though. A beautiful area. Have a great day and stay safe.

Others believe that no matter which way you hang the horseshoe, good luck will come. According to this superstition, ends pointing down simply means that the good luck is able to flow out and surround the home. If the horseshoe is hung over a doorway with ends up, it will catch good luck.
