I don't understand why people get upset if you touch things. Apparently family/friends don't want anything and it's not a museum or a shrine. It is just material things we all have to leave behind. What I find the most disturbing is that these items could be salvaged or given to the less fortunate. Instead, it will eventually all end up in the landfill due to dampness, mold and animal feces. Nothing lives on except the videos. Thanks for all you do 😊❤

I understand what you are saying. I will tell you that I feel the same in a way. My dilemma is another part of me feels like I am "stealing" the things. I know that is kind of irrational as they're there and going to ruin, but in the same token without permission of the owner (which isn't going to happen realistically) I don't feel I have the right to take anything. If its just touching stuff..well..IDK?...I think its okay personally as long as we are gentle and respectful to others peoples property. Maybe its a matter of respecting peoples property,but then he could argue don't enter the house at all?. I guess it's a hard one to explain, perhaps some of us are just more sentimental?

My wife and I absolutely loved this one. It's one of the best explores I've seen - so much stuff, and so many classic 'old person' things like the new tellie just put straight in front of the old one! Plus a very unusual style of home decor that you don't see in Britain often (perhaps it's more common in the West Indies). It seems like they were semi-hoarders, ie, they didn't purposely go out and collect stuff but they just kept everything that came in.

I prefer to watch your videos than most others because you show such compassion and empathy but with complete professionalism. I watched a video that 2 young men posted on KZbin. An abandoned town in upstate New York. I’m usually naive & too trusting- that was kind of difficult to admit because I’m probably in the top ten of the oldest viewers 😂🤫 I give people too much credit so I was surprised at myself when I kept feeling kind of negative towards them. Idk but I couldn’t shake it. Even watched it with my husband & he knows my favorite channels- he agreed. You guys are so careful and trustworthy We appreciate you and all of the team for being extraordinary 💕

Amazing find, Dave. It's definitely a hoarder situation. Maybe when the dad passed, the family had enough of the " stuff" and just left. Something also, loss cripples people emotionally. But it always seems they leave at Christmas time! What is up with that? Lotta stuff. Too bad it can't be cleaned out & donated.

My mom was in real estate, and saw the mountains of stuff parents would cram into their houses. And when they passed, it was all left for the their children to clean up the house, and put it on the market. And here you are, in a house crammed with stuff that could have been donated years ago, or thrown out. Wouldn't that mess with your head to have to go through your parents collection to clean out the house? At first it was kind of sparkly when you started, but as you went on it got so depressing. And you were coughing so much, glad you ended it when you did. Enjoyed this episode, as it brought back a lot of found memories form the 80's & 70's.

my grandparents did this. my mom cleaned up the whole house over 6 months. she and my aunt took what couldn’t be sold. my mom and unvle passed and we had to just throw so much stuff away at thst point. it was kinda awful.
@ckswat77zz513 ай бұрын
We went through this too. After we took what we wanted, we had this company come in & take everything. Then we cleaned & sold the home. It was so overwhelming that it was a relief to be done with it all.
@Londonfogey3 ай бұрын
@@ckswat77zz51 Same here. I had to clean out a house which had been in our family since 1910! I did it in stages. First I went through all the personal items to 'curate' them and decide which were worth keeping. That was the hardest part. How many old letters, for example, do you keep when there are hundreds? Then I collected all the small valuable items, to sell on Ebay. Then, I had everything else valued by an auctioneer and sold off one or two large items. Then everything else went to a clearance company. I had to pay nearly £2000 to have most of the stuff taken to the tip, but it was worth it because the rental income for the property per month was more than that, so every delay cost money. There just wasn't time to sell all the middle-sized stuff on Ebay.

Yes it does it is memories of people who use to live there at one time and looking at the photos and gems it is justed because of somebody that maybe could not lookafter them selfs at their own home like when they were younger and happy they had their independence then and when you lose that independence as we all get very old and feel like a baerden to siblings that veryone brings up that children leave the nest and have their own lifes. And there can be other situations to that as we get much older in our oldage we will be more independent on others to take care of us and we are not going to live 💔 for every 💔♥❤😢😔💙 me i am 63 now 💔😢 and reaching 70 and after that 80 and who knows i don't know 😕💔❤💙 if i would very reach 90 time justed flys by the days weeks month and years going really fast do you feel that as you are getting older. As when we were kids it couldn't come any faster to growup.
