With the "I'll swing by" bit, I totally get where Lando is coming from but I totally understand Connor, as well. Lando saying, "I think I am just going to have a coffee" implies grabbing a coffee really quick - Connor saying "I'll swing by?" feels like he was saying he will "swing by" real quick since it felt that it would be a quick trip to the café to begin with.

Such a lovely opening episode! Loved the cute lil opening! Less than five minutes in and I was already grinning like an idiot before it evolved into full-fledged laughter (at 11PM)! You both bounce off each other so naturally and it made everything feel so cozy and warm! Honestly felt like I was in the room with y'all just watching in amusement. Banter's top-tier and it's such a treat being able to see and hear how cheery you make each other! Thanks for this and I'm looking forward to the upcoming episodes! (Connor 100% should have picked up Lando and I am fully convinced he actually, as Lando "jokes" uses stilts. Sorry for the face pie, Connor!)

The best thing about things like the "I'll swing by" situation is that Connor is the type to not remember or overthink something like that at all, literally the second he's sent the text he's forgotten it exists and Lando is the exact opposite, he'll not only overthink it, but remember and analyze it for the rest of his life.

Unironically Dungeon Meshi is one of my favorite Animus/Mangos of all time. I loved the LAIOS WE HAVE TO COOK silly stuff but it just goes off the rails in a good way and becomes a fantasy epic with world ending horrors and literal existential nightmares/threats. unironically if you don't like the goofy cooking stuff then it gets good after like 9 or 10 episodes. But you should like the goofy cooking stuff too.

You know... hearing I'll swing by from Connor's PoV in this light sounds kind of reasonable, but hearing that train of thought this late sounds more like a theoretical excuse at this point. Wonderful first episode, loved everything from beginning to end! The opening with the little song and animation is so cool, the animation was so smooth and the song catchy! Barely started listening and was already laughing so hard, seeing you both grin is infectuous! You two have great synergy together, being able to create such engaging banter - it made it feel like I was coming along for the ride, sitting there watching you bounce off each other. Topic wise there is so much to cover, I'm still not over the first one about "swinging by" as a phrase; it piqued my curiosity as someone who has studied translation/languages. Along the way, the phrase formed such a vivid, silly image in my mind of "swinging by the end destination" in a manner of getting on a catapult and being yeeted. The rest was a mix of very relatable stories as well as stuff that made you raise your head in question, such as the Disney smell machines or driving a car into Target if there was a way to do it. The more you know! Loved the small Disney movie section, you both have great tastes in movies! That said, Lando's great at telling stories, he has a way of making you want to listen until the end. Very much enjoyed the section with viewer submitted questions, too! How has Connor never had a smoothie in his entire life, he's missing out on greatness. Also love the premise of crowning the winner after everything is done, Lando rightfully won this round. Thanks for creating this podcast, absolutely looking forward to listening to this weekly and congratulations on the launch!

Congrats on the first episode, hoping to see many more in the future! An interesting take I've heard on Lando's comment at 1:02:01 from a number of different people in one form or another is that while anime as we think of it has been around since the 60s, as Connor implies at 1:02:29 as with any media certain expectations and tropes have grown in the genre and formed into a general format and feel for especially a lot of the single season shows, making anything that goes even slightly against this stand out all the more. Further, the producers and directors who are now overseeing new shows are old enough to have grown up with only this type of anime as an influence, and may deliberately or subconsciously bring this bias to their productions regardless of the source material. I agree with the comment about reading more manga as while it certainly has its own issues, you'll run in to far more creative concepts given the hurdles of making a work profitable are much lower.

Adding undisclosed stuff to food is absolutely a horrid thing to do if someone has some dietary or religious restrictions it could really be messed up to learn later. Not to even consider the actual risk if you happen to add something the person is allergic to cuz yes people are allergic to honey even if it is a very rare allergy or maybe they're not even allergic but are diabetic and are careful about their added sugars, just very irresponsible behaviour even with good intentions.

I get a treat myself sometimes, but as someone who's on a strict diet, my treat is very carefully calculated. I am not ok with adding nonrequested ingredients (ESPECIALLY sugar) as it could throw me out of wack. It's not hard to just ASK. "Hey, honey makes it really tasty, would you like to try?"

I can definitely relate to struggling with social interaction. This one time I was at a coffee shop and when I got my order the barista commented something about my jacket (it's decorated with various pins and patches) and I wasn't prepared for a social interaction so I hadn't really listened to what they said and I just smiled and went away with my order. I said to my husband who was with me when it happened that I had no idea what they said to me and I started to panic because I didn't even think to ask them to repeat themselves and I was frustrated that I missed an opportunity to gain some social exp. Apparently the barista had said something along the lines of "nice pins and patches" or whatever. I just panicked and practically ran away.

I get both perspectives on "swing by". Lando thinks Connor is going to his house, but Connor has the destination in mind with Lando already there. If you say "I'll swing by and get you," the context has been established. Connor should have been clearer, and Lando should've asked for clarification. As someone with similar friends, it will save them from any future mistakes.

I very much relate to the social interactions thing. Not only do I have ADHD and social anxiety, I work from home for over the phone customer service and have barely interacted with people outside of interactions with customers. So, other interactions feel odd to me lately. I've also started streaming but I have so few viewers that I haven't really mastered the streamer/viewer interactions yet since I have to talk to myself so often. It's a process to learn how to talk to people again. 🤣🤣

I'm re-watching this since I tend to watch/listen to podcasts in bits: The honey thing felt like flirting, but in a generic flirting/being nice. It wasn't a wise decision at all, since pollen allergies can be a huge deal. In terms of health/sugar, honey is actually a safer, healthier route than refined or cane sugar. There's alternative sweeteners that are fruit based sugars, but safe for diabetics and even keto, because it's based around how they trigger insulin. The jacket thing: I don't believe that's flirting. I'd say 90% not hitting on you. I have straight friends who are really into classy fashion, and they'll openly tell someone, "Dude I love your jacket, where can I get it?" One friend actually has males ask about his fashion all the time, because the guy has drip. Like, I swear he can see the future, because he's on trend before it's a trend lol. He bout a very nice All Saints leather jacket about 6 years ago, and to this day it still get loads of compliments. That specific friend has had cougars hit on him in very awkward ways. I kid you not, this one time there was a very creepy cougar making thinly veiled innuendos in a meat section of all things. It was like a sitcom.
