After BF finished one of those, 30 year marathons (u choose which i dont care lol) he exited the 3d world and discovered that about 3,000 years had passed in the 2d world due to the way time passage works in the 3d world*, uh oh!!! This means everyone he knew is gone!!! Feeling no longer having any purpose in the 2d world, he chooses to abandon any sense of familiarity entirely and convert himself into a 3d entity so he can permanently live there without it being a danger to himself.
He was only able to find out one (and oh so convenient) way of doing this however...
