honorable abante, i personally appreciate the assurance of security to the families of the victims of human rights violations under the duterte regime. however, you also have to understand that the families of the victims, more often than not, are members of the urban poor who have been living their whole lives under the threat of abuse from govt authorities. it is not that easy for them to be courageous and face up their tormentors especially that the possible perpetrators of the abuse ate police officers who can drop by their shanties any time of the day or night. more will be required than mere assurance of security for the victims’ families to go out in the open.

They have good reasons to still be scared. A lot of the elements from the previous administration. Still in power and still existent. And the Marcos administration is giving little when it comes to comfort to these families

Mr. Abante, your claim that your committee can provide ironclad protection to EJK victims is preposterous. Also, Duterte is now a private citizen who you claim deserves your respect that you can not require his appearance in your committee hearings. PNOY appeared in Congress as ex-pres! Mr Abante, think before you speak. Try to put your self in the victims' shoes. You probably have no slight idea and understanding of what they are going through, and the circumstances surrounding their situations at the aftermath of the mindless slaughter of alleged drug-related offenders. These victims are terrified, traumatised and defenseless poor citizens in the community longing for justice despite your assurance of their protection. They need an advocate which in my opinion, your Chair doesn,t seem to have the capacity to exercise compassion judging in the way you speak before "THEIR CONGRESS".

Victims family are more concerned on their survival from day to day than spending their time to seeking for justice in which cannot bring alive their loved ones that were victims of this drugwar maybe if you give reparation to the families of victims they would consider to appear but relive again the pain and atrocities of those in power they feel helpless and vulnerable .
