Wht a stunning car. Did not know that there is a V12 Abarth. And the sound is soooo great, especially when lifting throttle 👌
@Italiansupercarvideo5 жыл бұрын
Please, read the video description. Abarth has produced a V12 engine; if you look on the internet, you will find photographs. In 1967 this car was supposed to be born and compete against Porsche and Ferrari. Unfortunately, the project was abandoned. This car is a reasonably accurate reconstruction of what could have been the car. A V12 has been installed but unfortunately not the original one. That engine is a unique piece and belongs to a collector.

Saw a picture of this and looked it up. Was pleasantly surprised by the very first shot in this video. Never would have dreamed to see an Abarth powered by a V12. Sounds beautiful and looks proper quick. What a treat 👌🏼

And this is how a racing car should sound. No stupid super high revving, no fancy state of the art engine and tech. Just a good looking car with a powerful engine. Period.

Già, pensa se l'avessero fatta e sviluppata. Probabilmente avremmo avuto altre pagine di storia motoristica e lotte fra Porsche/Ferrari/Abarth nella massima serie delle sport prototipi.

Great sounds...from the exterior. In-car had background noise similar to wind but something else. i found it very distracting. Some of the footage was washed out. Exposure didn't stay constant. Still well done. Thanks

I remember that the car had many points where air entered from the outside and in fact the wind noise is quite audible in the onboard scenes. I'm glad you enjoyed the video anyway 😉👍

Lovely recreation of a car that should have done good. Too bad they didn't take it to GrandAm competition, rules there were somewhat more "open". Racing could use a series more like that today.

I agree it would have been nice if this project had been realised. I am convinced that Abarth could have worried Porsche and Ferrari. The engine, moreover, was credited with over 600 hp. Evidently, the costs of this project were too high, also due to the obligation of production of units to sell, which it was decided to abandon everything - honour to these guys for having tried to complete this work which for too long remained unfinished.

@@Italiansupercarvideo sucks so much, especially now that abarth won’t be able to build anything like this under fca rule :( It’s all just the 124 and 595 now, and I don’t see them changing that
@Italiansupercarvideo4 жыл бұрын
@@chubskii The Fiat 124 has already been out of production for 1 year and therefore not even that anymore. All that is left of the Abarth are the Fiat 500s...too little and not very noble for this multi-victorious manufacturer in the world with its sports prototype cars.

@@chubskii I'm not saying it's a bad car, in fact, in the little car sector, it's probably among the most fun you can buy. But a brand like Abarth that stands up only on upgraded versions of the Fiat 500 is too little. However, I fear that this brand was used only for a matter of image but not well. Abarth was to be a specific line of sports cars like AMG for Mercedes or Cupra for Seat. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that won't happen, I don't see any serious brand investments on the horizon.

Avevo letto qualcosa in merito..ma il v12 Abarth l aveva fatto?
@Italiansupercarvideo5 жыл бұрын

Changes of rules always seem to come at the wrong time and messes up small companies ambitions. Indeed the rules for FIA sanctioned events for 68 were group 6 upto 3Ltrs and group 4 upto 5Ltrs? Ford with the Lola t120/ GT40 had the money to homoligate it into the later, Abarth was forced to enter gr6 prototype. A real pitty

07:47, that oversteer looked strange. It appeared to happen on-throttle. You stated somewhere that it was expected to originally have had 600hp. That seems too much for a car without a rear wing.. I wonder how the torque of that intended engine would have compared with this. I wonder if those tail lights are authentically represented. They don't work with that body's rounded form. Round ones would have looked better similar to Ferrari GTO.. . and positioned higher up within that opening. Then a mesh grill surrounding tail pipes. It just looks too unrefined and crude. Not enough thought. Even for back in the late 60's.
@Italiansupercarvideo5 жыл бұрын
I answer your comment, but I hope you have read the video description. Abarth never made this car, in 1968 the change of regulations in all probability decreed its premature end. From the research, I've done (there's also an Italian book where this project is talked about, and photos of the engine and technical characteristics are displayed) when Abarth presented the engine in Turin in 1967, declared over 600hp. An optimistic number. The car you see is a reconstruction based on the drawings and the mock-up model of the time. Currently, it also mounts a V12 engine, but the power is about 430hp, and it's not the original one that is in the hands of some collectors. It is certainly not a completely finished project and probably never will be, Abarth enthusiast created it.
