Getting a bottle of nixta and my mellow corn in a few days and if i could get a taste of Abasolo, would like to try. Also wasnt it aged in Tequila Anejo bottle as well. I hear it taste kinda like smoky tortilla chips on the corn notes whereas mellow corn or balcones is more sweet and buttery. Should try some Balcones True Blue or Baby Blue great blue corn mash and they have cask stregth option too. Still Austin Red Corn Bourbon is a great red corn blend. Going to do a twist on a drink that uses corn silk tea with mellow corn and nixta as the alchohol components. So funny you mention tea why i wonder if Abasolo would go better but for the price probably stickn MC.

This sounds amazing!! I can't remember if it was ages in ex-tequila casks. But it was rather delicious, either way.

Drinking a Waterford while enjoying this review. Like drinking a dram together! Hope you found your Old Forester 1920 by now btw. If so, any chance of a review?

Liam! Long time, no speak. I haven't got the 1920 yet. So many other things jumped on the radar. As soon as COVID dies down, im back to Kentucky and a haulage trip!

I was buying a bottle of Mellow Corn to take to a barbecue (It goes so well with barbecue flavours and is great value for money) when I was prompted to buy a bottle of Nixta at the checkout... I considered it as a change but your initial reaction to the taste as being "so sweet" made me put it back and just get the Mellow Corn. A lot of tasting notes mention the corn up front, and caramel or honey as incidental. I'm curious, but it's one for another time I think : )

Yeah, it is on the sweeter side and does work well as a mixer/syrup alternative for cocktails. Who doesn't love Mellow Corn? Great stuff. There's always another time, we'll speak when it happens. Cheers!

@@WhiskyWednesday I'd seen people suggesting that it'd be good in an old fashioned and I was thinking "oh really?" - but they probably meant as a substitute for the sugar : ) Thanks again for such a clear review.

few places have stated that it's aged for two years, haven't seen an official statement either. Did you try the two together rusty nail style?
@WhiskyWednesday4 жыл бұрын
I couldn't find anything on the age; i would've said it was older than two. I haven't...yet.
