mercedes with keyless 2016+ have a feature. you lock your car press the button twice and it disables the keyless entry!! do this everytime you leave your car

Yes GHOST is briliant - been around for ages to your local car/security place can fit them - if they install any tracking kind of systems they will have Ghost too.

Our just over 2 month old 45s has packed in, and been in the dealership for 2 weeks. First thought it was the coil/spark plugs, that didn’t work, now still trying to diagnose. Just started misfiring and stopped driving. If I can’t reject it I’m getting rid straight away. This however is a great security feature that I’ve got for free. Literally no one could steal it 😂

I have the ghost II. You can still start the car but without the code the engine cuts out when you try and select gear. Fitter said avoid the app

Do you have a BMW by any chance? I hear BMWs work that way with ghost. 100% agree don’t use the app I tested it and left my phone inside by house and the car started in some spots closer to my driveway because the range is quite far.

Did you confirm with Mercedes if warranty is still intact with a ghost because I heard with other brands like Range Rover sometimes can invalidate warranty because immobiliser wires have been cut etc

Hey A, generally from what I’ve heard these systems are safe but I can check with Mercedes-Benz and find out for sure. When it comes to warranty it’s hopefully only going to be an issue if it’s a fault caused directly by ghost which is unlikely since it’s been around for so long and has been well tested over the years. There’s always going to be some element of risk with any mod and warranty albeit very low but the benefits of having this system are so huge in my opinion 👍

No it will invalidate warranty! To install the modem the engineer has to weld it to electrical wiring in your car . That will invalid your warranty. Read terms and conditions if you don’t believe.

I’ve had this for ages now and they’re really good, BUT they can cause error codes to show up and I know this because Mercedes have had cars in the past that have reported these issues and it links back to the ghost immobiliser, Mercedes ordered me a module that they fitted which in some way eliminated error codes. This may not happen but it can so beware.

There’s no specific hijack mode but the car won’t start without the code so if someone hijacks your car with the engine running they won’t be able to start it back up if they park it. So if you have a tracker it should be easy to recover the Vehicle.

Hi Zio, I’m just starting a new series covering living with the CLA45s (first episode is up tommorow) and it’s actually about MPG and filling the car with a tank of fuel. My experience so far with MPG with the car is that it’s all over the place depending on how you drive. A long journey on the motorway you can easily get 40mpg. But realistic short jouneys, commutes etc I would say 22MPG is probably a fair figure. Sport+ mode and race mode absolutely eat fuel but they are really fun so you will want to use them! All things to consider :)

If we think about it it is a "small" 2L so in theory it shouldn't have an exaggerated consumption, obviously if you go to race mode it's another story :)). Honestly going to pay 5k euro for insurance… and dont fell like putting this thing pressing random keys every time i enter my car…. Its a nice tech for sure, could be baypassed also by simply record your password(there is a ways) but in general its a good security, but as I said when you pay for full insurance why bother…

Having insurance is good but if someone steals your car and has an accident, besides paying the deductible the insurance company normally wants to repair your car, and that repair will be on the car record forever.

Have had Ghost system on my A45S for over 2 years - it really is excellent ! Brings much piece of mind, especially as my theft excess is £2.5K, and I don’t want to lose my fantastic AMG ! I also use Faraday pouch etc, and steering wheel lock, window etching etc as visible deterrent.

I have this but I had it set so you can start the car straight away but when it's put in drive or reverse without the code inserted it just stalls, this cuts down on the first two ignition button pushes you had to do. Also I think the key stops transmitting if it is not moved for 20 mins.

Hey Mark, Is your car a BMW by any chance? I heard with BMW ghost has to be setup this way. There’s some systems with anti hijack too like the Pandora system which are nice.

@@ABAUTOAMG Hi Adam, no it's the a45s I also think ghost has anti hijack and global closing for windows or windows and sunroof there's quite a few extras that can be programed depending on which canbus system it's wired into.
