Dereck how good that you came to this special song with a special video and on such a special date "My love My life" in my opinion is the best ABBA ballad although his lyrics are sad, farewell, heartbroken It is a beautiful melody in an almost symphonic tone and Agnetha's voice rises to superlative levels very well accompanied in the choirs but She takes all the leadership and finishes with a powerful record in my opinion it is one of the seven best vocal interpretations of her: S.O.S. I love this song. I received the 'Arrival' album as a Christmas gift in 1976. My family were staying in a hotel in Dublin for the holidays and I played it over and over again in the hotel lobby, probably to the consternation of the other guests, but I was just a young boy, so they probably didn't have the heart to reprimand me!! This was one of my favourite songs on the album- even at a very young age I could sense the heartbreak in Agnetha's voice and my heart broke for her. LOL.

Agnetha's voice and these lyrics makes me tear up, every time I listen to this track... letting go of a True Love is never easy... To pronounce her (Agnetha's...) name like a true Swede, the trick is to stick an extra "N" (where there isn't one - between the first "A" and the "G" in her name...), and slightly draw it out, before pronouncing the "G" in "AN..gnetha". Man, that section that starts with "But I know I don't possess you..." is so beautiful and hooky! (Benny obviously knew it, cuz he had it play twice in a row to end this thing.) One thing that I think makes it so pretty is the way (on the word "bless", in the line "so go away, God _bless_ you") the bass player doesn't hit the expected 'C' note the first time the line is sung (3:46), _nor the second time_ (6:11). Rather, it's an 'E' note, which gives you a feeling of... not quite being done yet. It's a sort of tease. Then, on the very last singing of the line (7:08), he _finally_ gives you the desired 'C' note, because you now _are_ near the end. _So satisfying!_ Little tricks like that add so much depth and feeling to the music and the lyrics. "I've Been Waiting For You" from 1975 is another fantastic ballad where Agnetha's vocals are sublime and her Swedish version of "Disillusion" (ABBA recording from 1973) titled "Mina ögon" (recorded in 1975) is even better IMO than the English version. You should also listen to her Swedish version of "I Don't Know How to Love Him" in Swedish titled "Vart Skall Min Kärlek Föra". It's a great rendition of that song. Ags was Mary Magdalene in the Swedish production of Jesus Christ Superstar in the early 70's.
