We saw it last Saturday (13th July) totally agree with your comments and observations. The build up was fun, that wooded scene was very mesmeric and something always seemed to be happening. Our only misgivings were the two animated videos, the songs that were played without the avatars on stage and the fact that although this supposed to be Abba from the late 70's they sang songs from later years minus the beards which didn't quite seem right! otherwise it was a fantastic show and we totally believed that Abba were there live. Also at the end when the real Abba came on was a special moment too!

I grew up listening to ABBA. Crazy story: My late dad was a radio station owner at one point, and after that adventure ended, we moved to Québec City when he accepted the position of programming director for a new station called CHIK-FM, in 1982. As my dad was very fond of ABBA, their songs often played in the rotation. One day, he receives a call at the station from a man named Ola, who claims to be ABBA's studio drummer, and thanks my father for playing the band's songs. He was skeptical about this claim, until the man in question invited him and my mom to dinner at his condo, as he had bought a pied-à-terre in Québec City, and actually lived here for a few years. His name was Ola Brunkert, and of course when he moved overseas to Spain, I believe, my dad lost contact, unfortunately. I wish he had kept in touch with him. Then in 2008, we read that Ola Brunkert had died a tragic death when he fell through a glass door and cut his neck.

Re: ABBA in Perth (1977). Alice Cooper Paraphrasing the American rocker: Alice arrived Perth, jet lagged, exhausted. He checked into hotel. He is awaken, hungover. He hears his name being chanted..."Alice, Alice, Alice, Alice..." from outside hjs hotel window. He said he felt so honored. He makes his way to the window and sees a huge gruop of people looking up.... He then soon realizes the people below him are not shouting "Alice" . They are shouting "ABBA ABBA ABBA ...." He open the window, looks up and it is ABBA standing on the balcony from a suite on an upper floor. Alice Cooper eventually meets ABBA later on outside. Pictures are taken, with a group of people. Alice is in the middle of the group of people. He hs wearing a white sleeveless undershirt and has a beer in his hand. Alice Cooper ends up in ABBA - The Movie (1977). There is his telling of this story by Alice on KZbin.

ABBA's music is proving timeless. The world, correctly thought ABBA were iconic in the 70's. Except in America. America was very very wrong! ABBA actually did very well in America, but it was the "know-it-all" vocal young American males along with a jealous American monopolistic pop/rock establishment that misrepresented ABBA and that acted as a speed bump. The entire award show music establishment did not even acknowledge ABBA during thier hey day. Some Americans defend the American award shows indifference because it was an American award show for American artists. Bull! The British popular music artist were recognized. The British Commonwealth english speaking nations pop/rock artist were recognized: Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, etc ... What ABBA, the self contained indie group and their tiny home record label, Polar Music did was school the American-Britsh monopolistic pop/rock pay-to-play system.

Saw the show at the weekend. Enjoy it overall, even though we were quite far away from the stage. But also i was disappointed , I was expecting a lot more from what I read with the reviews , I wasn't blown away , it felt like I was watching a cinematic video game. The first two songs were just too slow and didn't get you excited. Eventually Abba iconic songs came alive with the light show. Bizarre animation in-between songs, and distorted sound, just took away the magic of Abba for me 😞

Not an Abba fan myself but my wife is. Went to see this in 2022 at the start of a trip to Germany to see Frank Turner in Koln and Berlin. The Abba show was good, it was very weird and definitely plays tricks on the mind because it does look so real and being on the floor, it definitely did seem very surreal at times, especially when they are talking to the audience who do respond. Worth seeing just once, even if, like me, musically it's not what I listen to but it's amazing how you know nearly every single song.

Great singalong, great experience, and having a live backing band was awesome. The holographic Abba members were very real. But I agree that the audio was atrocious. I went a few days ago. It was so loud that distortion resulted in musicality being lost, IMHO. In some of the songs early in the night the Abba voices were drowned by the backing. In later songs the Abba voices were so loud they went ‘quacky’ with distortion.
