I love that during all that insanity his face looks bored and how he's chewing gum and almost blows a bubble at the end too. That just goes to show how relaxed and second nature this all is to him.

Everybody notice that even with fast crossover singles all over the set, Dennis is rooted like an anchor in his seat. Chewing his gum nonchalantly. Always facing forward. He always had the best posture of any dude.

Dennis is a total monster and a huge part of the reason I got into drumming. In this particular era, young Dennis hit different. He was basically the champ.

Incredible. Like you said, very simple in theory, but like everything Dennis has ever played, the execution is flawless and the orchestration and speed are unreal. Can't wait to see the next Vinnie STG, but I would like to continue voting after that. After all, it got us this video.

I love your STG videos and think it would be cool to see an episode where you go over your favorite grooves. Maybe break down your thoughts on how it compliments the songs, backs a soloist, affects the feel and emotion, ect. Not to take away from all the chops you showcase which are amazing and super fun to watch and learn from. I think it's important to see the other side of drumming- which is being the musical foundation of a song. You're an incredible drummer and seem like a cool dude, so thanks for making these videos for our community.

thats the fastest lick ive ever seen! I feel like there is a lot more floor tom in your transcription but that might just be because the audio on your floor tom is so much better than the Dennis video. love all these STG!
@abbdrums
@abbdrums 8 жыл бұрын
+Matt Hernandez Yea I was having trouble seeing each individual hit with his hands when I slowed it down. I tried out a lot of stickings and orchestrations that I thought it could be but this one was the only one that really made sense. And yea, my floor tom is much more prominent in the audio than his is in that video...

Even during that lesson, he said he would ducktape phone books to triceps as a kid, I think. He said it developed his speed and power, and single stoke roll flow & strength. He also said he tries to hit rimshots on all the toms and snare when doing those power rolls. But he still has Buddy Rich speed, caliber and reflexes. He was into Buddy when he was 8, though. Ridiculous. This is why Carter Beauford idolized Dennis.

The sticking is easy. Getting the L to the crash, and getting back to the crossover was sweet! Your speed was GREAT, Dennis is just not human lol. Almost proves there's a god. Guy doesn't have the luxury to read...He has a hell of an ear, and INSANE speed. The Vinny will be cool. The Gadd stuff isn't terribly difficult (with charts) but he has that "feel". Still live Paccaro, Rich, and for a "rock" drummer, Bonham influenced them all. Maybe not the chops, speed etc, but his groove is FAT!

Thank you very much for all these videos, it will definitely help my studies! May I suggest something: In your video descriptions, where you type ORIGINAL VIDEO, could also please type next to it a time stamp? e.g.: ORIGINAL VIDEO (~4:06): assuming the lick/fill starts somewhere around there. This is information that you already know so it wouldn't take more than a couple of seconds but I think it would help someone that has not seen the particular video before and would have to search through it to find where the exact location is. Once again thanks so much! EDIT: Yes I know that you show the specific part, but If I download the audio/video of the original, I would like to have a time-stamp at the file's name to make everything faster!
