A requested video of me giving some of my parenting decisions, morals and values. These are just my opinions based off of my personal experiences and beliefs. I'd never judge another parent for making decisions that best serve their children personally, ever if they differ from mine.
I am not perfect and I make mistakes- I just pray to always continue to grow and learn. ♥️

I also had my daughter at 19 and just had another baby at 21. I’m going to my first NA meeting today and I just want to thank you for being so open and honest. Im also raising my kids completely opposite of how I was raised, but as I’m young and still healing that’s been difficult to navigate. I feel heard. Thank you.

The amount of make up you allow her to wear is age appropriate. She’s not doing full coverage, cut creases, sharp contour and false lashes. Lip gloss, Pink blush and press on nails. Is just fine!! You’re an amazing mom & I’m envious of your co parenting relationship

Also could you do a video on how to stick to a routine because I really have trouble with that I work Monday-Friday and go to church on Sundays so I'm pretty busy all week and I just need some tips on how to stay on a schedule and still have time for me. I get lazy after work and going to the tanning bed when I get home I just sit around and then it gets late or after I eat dinner I'm beyond tired and don't get nothing done I need help and motivation lol

It’s amazing how we have never met yet but we have such similar personalities, experiences, and parenting styles. My daughter is only 2.5 so obviously some differences. There are things I am still processing from my child hood that my daughter is never ever going to have to heal from. I know my parents did the best they could with the information they had but there are definitely things I will never choose to repeat

Hey listen, negative comments don’t mean shit. As someone who came form divorced parents that were addicts and couldn’t get past the divorce for ten years. I’m still dealing with it today. Seeing Myla and you packing up her bags makes my heart so happy. I remember packing my bags the night before checking over and over in the morning or before school that I had everything. And by everything meaning the stuffed animals that were my comfort. Where even after 22 years are the things that still bring me comfort. I slept with alll four of my childhood stuffed animals last night. So ignore that shit. Myla is gonna grow up and hopefully not need that familiar scent because she knows she is so loved. No where and in no sense a bad mom. I have never experienced half of the stuff you have with your mom. Cooking. Her doing my hair. It makes me happy. I can’t wait to have a daughter to show her that type of love, the Love you give Myla. And he’ll yeah my daughter will be able to say damn when she’s home alone. I completely agree with everything. You’re doing amazing literally. She’s gonna grow up feeling loved important and secure. Don’t let anyone tell you different.

I honestly feel like people nitpick parenting styles way too much. In my opinion, as long as you’re teaching your kids to be kind human beings who respect those around them it doesn’t matter if they swear at home or not. The fact that people feel entitled and cocky enough tell others how to parent is wild. Also the thing about over compensating because you don’t see your kid all the time is very true. My parents are divorced and the schedule had me seeing my mom and dad seeing me 2 days a week with weekends alternating and both did more of some things than others. My dad would always make me any type of food I wanted and never said no to dessert. And while looking back it wasn’t super healthy but it was something he could do to make up for the time we didn’t spend together. So I definitely get that a lot.

Same with my boys on swear words, and both my boys I allowed to swear at home with only allowing them to only use certain words. Bith my boys are young men and grown now. Neither one of my boys put me through it. They never were out drinking or drugging. Yes I did check them when they came home. I’m in long term addiction & recovery myself. So I know what to look for.

I have similar rules with cussing- I have a 13 and 9 year old and I could careless they say shit sometimes. I however do not allow any of us to curse at eachother- or out in public- And we don’t say bitch. If my kid says “ I’ve had a rough fuckin day” I really wouldn’t care. However they really only say shit from time to time. If they ever went around saying fuck this, fuck that or this or that person is a bitch or my son say “ my sister is being a fucking asshole” THEN we would have problems. But they know that words can hurt people and context matters so they don’t ever speak to eacogher like that- and honestly since making curse words not such a taboo thing they honestly rarely even say them cuz they don’t seem so… as I stated.. taboo! I want them to know cursing about something Vs cursing at someone is different and certain words like bitch can be derogatory but a word like shit or fuck- as long as not directed at someone are literally the least of my worries as a parent with a teen. If my kid had a rough day and needs to blow off steam and drops a single f bomb I’m not gonna say a word- cuz I’m just greatful my kid is coming to me when unloading about their day and however they need to express themselves to ME as their mom is fine with me personally. They know that if family is around or out in public it isn’t acceptable as OTHEr people may take offense (and they are allowed to take offense) and if anything it teaches them self control and to know that each person you interact with is different levels of vulnerability and they are still children at the end of the day. Honestly my kids and I joke and drop a f bomb or say shit and we have an absolutely amazing relationship my kids get in zero trouble with friends or at school, have zero interest in experimenting when their friends smoke vapes ( yes 12 year olds already do that at their school) so i consider my kids really well behaved! Cuz they are! Cussing doesn’t define you as a good or bad person. I can tell ya that!

Listen, you don’t have to explain anything, to anyone. I know as a contact creator, an influencer you want to explain to your Fanbase I am in recovery myself, my child is now 11. I’ve been clean 8 1/2 years. I lost her when she was eight months old and then I didn’t see her for two years I missed those important bonding years. At the fall of nobody by myself. My daughter and Myla are very similar. She’s 11 and she has Chanel lip gloss. She has Tarte bronzer. She has more high and make up and I do. I agree with everything that you said about parenting guilt, and then also about them being the only child I am her only friend, she enjoys the things that I enjoy. She doesn’t have a little sister or brother can play dolls with she likes the things that I like. I completely agree with every single one of your rules. I’m eight years older than you. I grew up with an alcoholic father and no mother so our stories as children are very different, but as adults they’re very similar. I admire ur tenacity, the way you love being a mom, the way you accept and embrace coparenting. I know we can’t see everything. But from what I do see you’re a kick ass, mom and human. Don’t ever let anybody tell you any different. I know sometimes these Karen’s in the comments can get under your skin. Please don’t ever let them make you feel less then as a mother, or even as a human general. We all make mistakes as parents we learn from them and we’re all just doing our best. Keep up the good work I truly love your channel. I just enjoy watching another mom navigate sobriety, motherhood, work, and just life in general! Keep kicking ass❤

It's fine to buy your child my sayings even things that maybe our little too mature for her in some ways or would be used to mature for her as long as they're not harmful who cares but that being said I hope that you were helping her understand the correlation between the work and effort you're putting into afford those things have her understand that not everyone can afford to have those things just because I want to make sure that she's not ever going to be the kid who thinks that that's normal because that inadvertently puts a lot of pressure towards the kids that are around her and it might put a lot of pressure on her as an adult to be at the same level when you don't start at those levels unless you were extremely wealthy from like inheritance or something like that and either way even if you were an independently wealthy person starting out it's important to show even those people that that's not the norm it's the exception just so they can be appreciative of what they have as well as the understanding when other people don't but as long as you're in stealing that in her who cares by her what you want you're her momthose things are not going to hurt her one way or the other as long as she understands and appreciates the value of them because my kid has super nice things but she also understands how hard it is for me to provide those things for her and I think she realizes how much effort it's going to take her to have those things as an adult and I've tried to instill respect for people who are trying and not getting those things as well as a generosity towards the people who don't even have what they need

I have a question sweet lady. What about school grades? Are u strict or more lenient? I ask because wen my oldest was younger I was huge on grades but it backfired. She now we know is autistic at 17 and a perfectionist. She had a psychotic episode last year because she puts so much pressure on herself. For context I live pretty near u am a recovering addict been clean since my oldest was about 6-7. I knew she was very smart and knew all of kindergarten before it even started. Anyways. Saying all this my daughter is incredible. And she tells me everything. I also wonder do u ground right away or discuss more first? If u say no phone is it til jobs done or for strictly a week? I know a lot questions but I’m not judging u one bit. I’m genuinely curious

You are so right I remember as a child my mama would always let me get fake nails from Kmart or Walmart and I thought I was something. She was worried about taking me to nail salons because she didn't want me to get a fungus but I was allowed to go for prom and certain events and when I was 19 I ended up getting a fungus that came from going to the nail salons. Which occasionally I still go to the nail salon to get my nails done but I usually stick with press on nails. We would have Spa nights where she taught me how to take care of my skin when I got older and we would do each other's makeup. Saturday's was our day for shopping and she always made sure that I was dressed InStyle and whatever was in fashion at the time she knew all about it I made sure that I rocked it. Now that I'm older I do the same things with my daughter and I have so many fond memories with my mama. The only thing she didn't allow was for me to wear the shiny white eyeshadow which was everything back in the late 90s early 2000 but with that said I could wear it when I was with my friends she just wouldn't buy it for me laugh out loud❤❤❤

I love how she described swear words as words that hurt peoples feelings. There’s parents out there that allow their kids to say shut up, stupid, the r word and worse, extremely racist words but would have a freakin stroke if their kid said shit 🙄

I love how you are so balanced with your parenting, you allow Myla enough freedom to have fun and enjoy herself but also set clear and healthy boundaries for things she can't do. So much respect for you Abbey!

As a disability support worker, thank you for teaching your little one about the r word. My father used it a lot when I was growing up (still does) and it’s very uncomfortable to hear :(

I think your rules are very valid and you seem like a great mom! I have one question, would you let myla have social media like tiktok or instagram when she’s a teenager or would she never be aloud to have it?

so much intentionality and critical thinking behind your parenting style!! love that you don't follow arbitrary rules for the sake of following them and instead have context and reasoning behind your decisions :) myla is lucky to have a momma like you!!

I agree with the swearing! Swears can be used to express yourself like when hurt or whatever as long as their are no bad intent

You’re so right words are words unless they are descriptive to offend someone…like “slow” it’s not a curse word but is will offend certain people but saying shit is not going to offend someone unless you directly call someone a piece of shit However the one thing I don’t agree with is allowing her to watch KZbin but that’s just my opinion…my daughter with restrictions and all learned about TikTok from KZbin and starting talking about wanting to make TikTok videos so I had to cut it off completely…I am not affiliated with TikTok in any way shape or form but the two go hand in hand

Also, buy her what u want. I feel for KZbinrs because you have to explain things that I don’t think you should. I know you are being polite to your viewers, but I hope people believe that we are still gracious observers, not tyrants, etc.

I don’t get how people have a problem with kids not having tick-tock it is meant for 13+ so it just makes sense that her 8 year old doesn’t have it and she is also right saying that youtube has kid settings witch work really well wen you wanna keep your kids safe online. Love your vids ❤️

Also shout out to bobby because there are most men who will leave the mom and child and go on about their merry way and then there are the men who want to stay and Mom💕❤️ says OK every other weekend so shout out to your mama because the hardest thing in the world to do is just put your time evenly with somebody else when it comes to your child so good for you you’re doing what is the best for your child? You’re a great mom. This is my third comment because you’re such a great fucking kick ass mom and nobody knows what it’s like to parent in recovery unless you have fucking done it.

Never think you have to apologize for the way that you are raising your child key word is YOUR as long as you are not endangering her and she has a roof over her head and clothes on her back she is great she has her sober mama and that's all that matters

Thank you abbey !!!! ❤ I requested this & I was so happy to see you made a video! ❤ Love you ❤ I love how you mentioned having a routine so she knows what to expect & how it’ll give her more control. The home words also make sense because I feel like I was never taught what those words meant which encouraged me to say those things. I definitely wrote down a lot of your tips and tricks. It’s great how you also are teaching her cleaning is important and to handle it head on !😊 This gave me so much hope as a new single mom. You’re such an inspiration and I love watching you and myla grow and I can only hope my son and I have a relationship like y’all do ❤

Fairly new to your channel, I mainly watch your shorts but mama you're an AMAZING parent. Before my two boys I had a drinking problem and had a coke addiction. I've been clean of any and all drugs for 7 years and limited my alcohol consumption where I now haven't had a drink in a year. But if I do drink I only ever have one drink and it's only on a special occasion if I'm with family. I used to be so embarrassed and shameful and you help embrace it and bring awareness. I'm so proud and I love your coparent relationship with mylas dad. I respect it so much. My kids have a step father and he's absolutely amazing with my kids. He loves them like his own. All that aside, let people say what they want. Never have it question you as a mama. You're amazing and the fact you are so open and there for your baby girl will only have her trust you more especially as she gets older. You're doing an awesome job raising the sweetest girl! ❤❤
