Hello Abbey! Can you please rate your pens based on most to least comfortable to write with? I have 5 fountain pens so far, but I haven’t found my “perfect” pen yet. I really like your fountain pen style and would value your opinion on this.

Mine would be Pilot Custom 823, Kakuno, and Kaweco Student. All these I like writing in frequently, as well as the Sailor Lecoule! The rest are generally okay, I find that finer nibs work with my handwriting size. Hope this helps!

@@AbbeySy Hi Abbey! Thank you so much for replying. I’m new to fountain pens and I have a lot of questions, but I don’t know anyone else that has them. I’ve been eyeing the Kaweco student because I like the aesthetic. But I’m worried that the metal grip will be too slippery while writing. Have you found this to be the case? Also the price of the Kaweco Student and Pilot Custom 823 are markedly different. Do you recommend starting with the Kaweco Student first and if I’m really not satisfied with the smoothness, then I can start to explore the more expensive pens? How long did you wait before buying an expensive pen? (Above $150 range.) Did you feel it in your hand first before buying? (I’m hesitant to buy something expensive online and not liking it).

@@xxflipchick22xx No worries at all! Okay, so here's my hot take: 1. Kaweco Student - the metal grip is fine. At first I found it cold (haha) but eventually you'll get used to it. If you're looking for a German nib pen with a really thin nib, this works really well for that (mine is EF). I have mine inked with Sailor and it's one of my favorite pens to use for Hobonichi Weeks because the writing space is so small. 2. Pricing - yes, they are very extreme in terms of pricing. How long have you been into writing with fps? I would say depending on your budget, but actually I bought the Custom first before the Student. The Student isn't as smooth writing as Custom so that explains the stark contrast of the pricing 3. Expensive pen - one of my friends had a Custom and I was fortunate enough to try hers and sense if I like it (weight, writing experience, etc), to which I did. I bought mine around 5+ months in when I was ~into fountain pens~, moreso because I realized if I got that pen (aka my "endgame" pen) I would write with it regularly, which I am now. I suggest trying it out in a physical store to see it for yourself. I watched SO MANY videos also before getting my pen! 4. What to get - LOL, I will say Custom in a heartbeat but if you're tight on budget and want something nice, the Student will suffice. I love both though, I try not to compare them as much. But I love them both in my collection. I hope this comment makes sense hahaha

My fixation with fountain pens started a month ago. I have now a silver Pilot Metropolitan, a black Lamy Safari, a Pilot Kakuno cream with a sky blue cap, and a Pilot Kakuno cream with a yellow cap. Thanks!

I have that same Lamy and I love it to bits! I have both colours, orange and green and they're so nice. I do have them with fine nibs because the medium nibs in German pens feel a bit too thick for me. Lovely vid, thank you for sharing!

Your pens are so gorgeous! I’ve been curious about the various Pilot Customs. (Also, I laughed out loud a few times during this - your narration had some super smart funny moments!)

FYI, the Pilot Kakuno also takes the CON-70 converter if you ever want more capacity.

Yes I'm aware :) But I didn't want to use my Kakuno a lot anyways and the Con-40 was just given to me!

You’re esthetic is so cute! Love the olive tones and orangey inks! How do you keep your fountain pen collection so small?
@AbbeySy2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Brittany! I think at this point I already got overwhelmed with the multitude of pens I want to be using, so I decided to stop getting more. Buuut as of this writing I’ve destashed 2 pens and added 1 which I’ll talk about soon. Usually I work with my current number and no longer add because if I don’t actively use a pen, I feel really bad! Lastly, since getting the Custom, I realized it was endgame for me 😂

I'm so sad that they are also discontinuing the Ina-Ho! Do you plan on buying pens from other brands you haven't tried? I plan on either buying the Pilot 95S Elite or the Pilot Custom 74 (or both lol) since I found a store in LazMall that sells it very cheap compared to other stores I've seen.
@AbbeySy Жыл бұрын
Yeah right? I love Ina-ho so much! I'm okay now with my current pen selection; I want to do one for 2023 soon :) Pilot 95S Elite or Custom 74 sounds good!

I also feel overwhelmed if I have too many FPs, so now I only have 8 FPs with Pilot Vanishing Point being the most expensive pen in my collection. I recently destashed a pen and it felt really good. I'm planning to sell another FP and getting a Pilot Decimo.
@AbbeySy2 жыл бұрын
Aaaa been eyeing a VP! Heard good things about the Decimo too, love Pilot nibs so much :) Yes agree to feeling overwhelmed!

Can you please let me know why you sold your sailor pro gear slim pen? I’m in the market for one. I, like you, have a pilot custom 823 so if it’s not as good, then I may just pass on it. Thanks for your feedback!
@AbbeySy2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t find joy in it, Idk if that’s a proper response hahah. The color turned out more green than I expected (body wise). I personally find Pilot Custom 823 more smooth amongst all the pens I’ve tried :) hope that makes sense

@@AbbeySy I like them lot! The bottles are very small, but all of the inks I've tried are wet, well behaved in a variety of pens and nib sizes, and the colours are beautiful. It is one of my favourite ink brands along with Pilot and Diamine.

I don't know what it is, I hate astrology, don't believe in it. But even I can't deny, fountain pens are such a capricorn shit to be into. My dad and I both happen to be Cap, and we found ourselves buying the same pens just by coincidence. And we got into the same shit pretty much independently like food, coffee, guitars, and watches. It's freaking absurd.
