Hi Abbey, Can you do a video about keratin bond extensions? I have been doing them for a year now because my hair didn’t want to grow after a certain length. I know they are quite damaging so I’m looking for the best way to revive and repair my hair after I take them out.... Xx

A while ago I saw a hairdresser explain how to apply leave in serum in my hair and have always used this technique… you spread it not only all the the palms of your hands, but you also get it in between your fingers… then you use your fingers like a wide tooth comb to comb the leave in into your hair. This also helps evenly distribute products into your hair. I’m going to try sectioning, especially when shampooing, but I think it will be easier if I shampoo in the kitchen sink instead of standing up in the shower.

I wash my hair outside in the garden. PLENTY of room and the water goes into the garden. I take a couple of gallons of filtered water in empty plastic bottles. All of my products, combs and micro towels are lined up and ready to use. It's relaxing and wonderful to be in nature.

My hair growth has always been extremely slow. It only grows about 0,5 cm (0,197 inches) a month. It’s also always been very thin and fragile. There have been many times in my youth where people asked me if I had cut my hair when in reality it either thinned out so much at the end that the ends were barely noticeable or just broke off noticeably 😢 As a result I was always very insecure about my hair and kept it short (like everyone in the family because we all have the same bad genetics). When I discovered your channel I thought: Let’s give it one more real try. Everyone in my family told me that we just had bad genetics and it wouldn’t work. Our hair just doesn’t grow long. I had a pixie cut back then with about 1 cm (0,39 inch) long hair. About 2 years later my hair is a bit longer than chin length and healthy 🥺 I know it doesn’t look like a lot for most people but I‘m incredibly proud that I managed to grow it that long and I‘m really hoping that I might even grow shoulder length hair in the next few years thanks to your tipps (and K18 😂) 💪 I‘m incredibly grateful for your channel!

When your hair will not grow or is very thin, it could be vitamin deficiency. Did you know that Vitamin D, iodine, Vitamin B12, folat, Magnesium, calcium and iron is very important for hair growth? You should ask your doctor to check you levels of these, for iron it is ferritin. Iodine can only be checked in urine. Ferritin needs to be over 80 for the best hair. Its not enough to be good, because good is from 15 to 300, but for the hair it should be in the higher level. Its not included in normal blood work, you need to add all these and pay for them extra

As you’re going through your trichology program, I’d really love to hear your take on who could benefit from a visit to a trichologist and for whom it’d be a waste of time & money, provided we are talking about someone average who gets moderate breakage and hair fall that results in ends looking stringy. As well as any suggestions on how to sequence one’s at-home investigation and experiments, types of bloodwork one can do before visiting a trichologist, etc. Thank you!

@@tatumreed31 -Hi! I use the OGX oil before every shampoo, blow dry VERY gently when hair is mostly dry, I’ve used bond repair products consistently, and I have SERIOUSLY limited heat styling. In addition, I stopped wearing any tight style that stresses my hair, and I became obsessively careful when brushing. Also, bleach is now used only on roots. I use color depositing glosses to simulate a little highlighting. I have almost no breakage and my hair looks pretty healthy. At this point, I have tried to eliminate the HIDEOUS habits involving heat, bleach, and hair stressing that have been my practice for a VERY long time.

Great routine tips. I'd offer a friendly note to anyone considering coconut oil in their routine : just keep it off of your skin, as it is comedogenic and does clog pores, leading to skin irritations and breakouts. But it tends to be good for most porous, dry, damaged hair. If you don't care for the scent, opt for refined coconut oil, which has most of the scent removed through processing.

What's the point or major difference between using special "hair oil" with all the other ingredients, and just straight oil, like coconut or olive oil etc? Don't they both do just as good a job? And what's the real major difference between using a leave in conditioner, that you made by diluting a little bit of your normal conditioner with water, and spraying that on your hair, versus the expensive leave in conditioners?
@buckyyyb

it’s pretty complicated for products to clog pores. clogged pores have to do with the cells not shedding, and a product can’t really do that unless you’re not washing your face, and some other factors (: source - Dr Dray

I saw someone doing a hack for a tight ponytail to allow the effect without the same risk of damage. Section of the front of your hair and then put the remaining bulk of your hair into a regular ponytail then take the front section and pull it into a ponytail around the first one and secure with a second tie around both. This means you can make it fairly tight but with the weight of your hair being supported by a regular ponytail then the weight isn't being put through the delicate hairline.

I just started my hair growth journey. It's already relatively long (almost waist-length at my back), but I want it longer 😅. The most challenging part has been cutting out heat. I just came to terms with the fact that I need to stop using my curling wand last week. I have too many split ends and seem to just get more everytime I use it. Also, wearing it up when working has been rough as well, but it's constantly knotting at the nape of my neck to where the collar of my shirt is. Finding protective styles that look okay on me has been a challenge. I know you have a video on protective styles for sleep, but one for hairstyles during the day and when out in public would be amazing!

I already transitioned to a shade that's at least the same value (level of depth) than my own color so I don't have to touch it up that often and it wasn't a breeze to get there. My hair only is a level 6, but trust me, bleach damaged hair doesn't want to keep darker pigments in. But it's worth it, my hair is growing really nicely and also pretty fast. My hair is also on the finer side and probably not as dense as yours, but I have naturally wavy hair (which is something I figured out in my late 20's, didn't know it before) with a lot of visual volume, so I don't mind that. I hope a lot of people watch (and already watched) this video and take your advice because it's really good. I have learned a few techniques to apply product to make it work better for my hair texture and it did change everything for me, really.

Love your videos! I've noticed lately your audio has a lot more feedback/reverb than before. Have you changed equipment/settings? Also, if you wash your hair 2 to 3 times a week, would you use the Redkin 15% citric acid product every time you wash or just once a week? Have a wonderful day!

I hate hair in my face and I love sleek strict ponytails and braids. But unfortunately pulling hair back too strong is harmful. Since I use Olaplex instead of Kérastase, my hair is so silky that my silk scrunchies slip out easily. Therefore, I would like some detailed instructions on how to create loose buns and braids by using silk scrunchies or pinned back hairstyles with hair clips. Gladly also to let the hair air dry. I only rough dry my roots on a cold setting, then let air dry tossed with silk scrunchies. I would like to know how to air dry and creating waves without heat, brushes or curlers. Thanks for the help in advance.

I just started using this oil based on your recommendation and I absolutely love it!!! I also adore the smell of it and I don’t even like coconut smell, but this is a clean and almost perfumey smell. Anyway, it’s amazing. I have extremely dry menopausal hair that has completely changed textures on me! I am applying a very light amount on the days I don’t wash and sleep with it overnight and the next day, I just spray a little dry shampoo at my roots and it’s made such a difference. I apply a heavier amount before shampooing on the days I wash. Anyone who says all oils are the same are misinformed. Thank you for the suggestion. My hair thanks you too!😝

Thank you so much! I am enjoying your content and truly appreciate it. I am in remission from a rare small intestinal cancer during 2023. I didn’t lose my hair from chemo. However, it thinned out at the three month mark after a very stressful surgery and rough recovery, including malnutrition. I’ve regained my weight, am optimizing my nutrition, and my hair is growing in nicely at my scalp. However, I have very wispy ends, and extremely fine miniaturized hair. I am looking at your hair routine closely and being much more gentle with my hair. I also just ordered K18 and think based on what I read that it will be a significant help. I’ll keep you posted! Thank you so much again!

I wonder if in your research you have come across research or good information about how hair's needs might change as it goes grey? I'm 39 and I don't mind the greys at all but I have noticed their texture seems to be coarser and my hair has gone from being stick straight to a little bit wavy. I would love to know if the same rules about protecting and repairing damage apply, or if greys have extra needs to keep them looking their best.

Hello Abby First of all thank you so much for doing this very detailed video. As you were telling your story you opened my eyes about some things I was doing wrong in my routine and wondering why the products are not working. The part of leave-in treatments to be exact. Because I have long, fine hair I was using leave in product in my hair BUT I was not coating my hair properly as you said and I woke up with some split ends on one side of my hair more pronounced than the other because I was afraid that using more product would weight my hair down although on the bottle it says words like ' light weight' and " for fine hair". Now after I listened to you and saw the way you apply your leave in products , I will start to apply them diligently on my hair as well to seal my ends better and prevent split ends as much as possible to preserve my length. One more time thank you so much for all the informations you brought to us ❤❤❤❤

You do not need to use coconut oil you can use other oils: argan, almond, jojoba, rose hip.... Coconut is not THE oil for hair

I think it depends on hair texture and porosity too. Coconut is a very penetrating oil. Jojoba is not very penetrating. Oils have unique properties. Combinations can be more effective

Loved the video! I just got my hair highlighted for the first time in over 20 years (I am older and have more grays). My stylist didn't use bleach but I also didn't get the ash brown color that I asked for instead I got reddish brown so back to the drawing board. I will start pre-treating with oil as you suggested and using hair clips. Even though we have completely different hair types, I am African American with type 4 hair, I find your videos helpful since I keep my hair straight via flat ironing. I also have fine hair but a food amount of it.

What’s funny is that when I used the Revlon and Drybar brush hairdryers, my hair didn’t seem that damaged compared to the damage that I’ve seen with the Shark flex style brush attachment. And back when I was using the Revlon brush, that was long before my hair care journey started, and I was using that on completely wet hair!😂 I think there’s something about the Shark brush attachment that pulls on the hair much more than those other two did, at least in my experience. It was something I noticed upon first using the Shark, and I was doing things as carefully as possible with heat styling by the time I got that product

Did your hair texture change with menopause/permenopause? I'm getting much closer to that life change. I remember my mom's hair going from lightly wavey to kinky curly - but not all of it, just random strands. She loved using Friz Ease (which may just be a hair oil?.) I have thin fine hair with flyaway. For that, my niece recommended I use Biosilk's Silk Therapy Original. It's a hair oil, and just a drop or two rubbed in my top layer of dry hair tames those flyaway without making my hair greasy. As for Abby's washes, I know she used to wash 1 time per week, but I think she has changed that - or at least changed her recommendation for other people - farely recently. I think she now says do whatever works best for you. You may want to search for her most recent videos on that. Good luck. And, I'm glad the minoxidil is working for you 😊

Ironically, my hair is the healthiest it’s ever been, and I get my roots bleached every 6-8 weeks. My hair is light to begin with, so maybe that’s why? I had an outbreak of scalp psoriasis right after a shit ton of my hair fell out after I went to my husband’s friend’s wife (who is a hairdresser!) and she did a color remover thing on my hair and sent me home in a hair mask. As I was washing my hair out, clumps and clumps of hair were coming out. I lost so much hair and then on top of that, BAM! Scalp psoriasis. My hair was so long and healthy and I’ve been recovering from that for a few years. My hair is finally at a very healthy stage again, but I know I’m doing some things I shouldn’t, especially after watching your channel!
