A while ago I saw a hairdresser explain how to apply leave in serum in my hair and have always used this technique… you spread it not only all the the palms of your hands, but you also get it in between your fingers… then you use your fingers like a wide tooth comb to comb the leave in into your hair. This also helps evenly distribute products into your hair. I’m going to try sectioning, especially when shampooing, but I think it will be easier if I shampoo in the kitchen sink instead of standing up in the shower.

As you’re going through your trichology program, I’d really love to hear your take on who could benefit from a visit to a trichologist and for whom it’d be a waste of time & money, provided we are talking about someone average who gets moderate breakage and hair fall that results in ends looking stringy. As well as any suggestions on how to sequence one’s at-home investigation and experiments, types of bloodwork one can do before visiting a trichologist, etc. Thank you!

My hair growth has always been extremely slow. It only grows about 0,5 cm (0,197 inches) a month. It’s also always been very thin and fragile. There have been many times in my youth where people asked me if I had cut my hair when in reality it either thinned out so much at the end that the ends were barely noticeable or just broke off noticeably 😢 As a result I was always very insecure about my hair and kept it short (like everyone in the family because we all have the same bad genetics). When I discovered your channel I thought: Let’s give it one more real try. Everyone in my family told me that we just had bad genetics and it wouldn’t work. Our hair just doesn’t grow long. I had a pixie cut back then with about 1 cm (0,39 inch) long hair. About 2 years later my hair is a bit longer than chin length and healthy 🥺 I know it doesn’t look like a lot for most people but I‘m incredibly proud that I managed to grow it that long and I‘m really hoping that I might even grow shoulder length hair in the next few years thanks to your tipps (and K18 😂) 💪 I‘m incredibly grateful for your channel!

When your hair will not grow or is very thin, it could be vitamin deficiency. Did you know that Vitamin D, iodine, Vitamin B12, folat, Magnesium, calcium and iron is very important for hair growth? You should ask your doctor to check you levels of these, for iron it is ferritin. Iodine can only be checked in urine. Ferritin needs to be over 80 for the best hair. Its not enough to be good, because good is from 15 to 300, but for the hair it should be in the higher level. Its not included in normal blood work, you need to add all these and pay for them extra

@@tatumreed31 -Hi! I use the OGX oil before every shampoo, blow dry VERY gently when hair is mostly dry, I’ve used bond repair products consistently, and I have SERIOUSLY limited heat styling. In addition, I stopped wearing any tight style that stresses my hair, and I became obsessively careful when brushing. Also, bleach is now used only on roots. I use color depositing glosses to simulate a little highlighting. I have almost no breakage and my hair looks pretty healthy. At this point, I have tried to eliminate the HIDEOUS habits involving heat, bleach, and hair stressing that have been my practice for a VERY long time.

I always thought, this was knowledge that's already settled in anybody's heads, but I realized over the years, that it's not the case, so thank you for spreading it! I am so glad to have a mother who started teaching me these as soon as possible and I always had long, shiny, healthy hair as a kid and teen until I really wanted to experiment with haircuts and color. That was a phase - one that lasted 21 years and is just about to end now because I wanna grow my hair out again. I am 36 and tired of the short, bleached hair. I already transitioned to a shade that's at least the same value (level of depth) than my own color so I don't have to touch it up that often and it wasn't a breeze to get there. My hair only is a level 6, but trust me, bleach damaged hair doesn't want to keep darker pigments in. But it's worth it, my hair is growing really nicely and also pretty fast. My hair is also on the finer side and probably not as dense as yours, but I have naturally wavy hair (which is something I figured out in my late 20's, didn't know it before) with a lot of visual volume, so I don't mind that. I hope a lot of people watch (and already watched) this video and take your advice because it's really good. I have learned a few techniques to apply product to make it work better for my hair texture and it did change everything for me, really.

Hello Abby First of all thank you so much for doing this very detailed video. As you were telling your story you opened my eyes about some things I was doing wrong in my routine and wondering why the products are not working. The part of leave-in treatments to be exact. Because I have long, fine hair I was using leave in product in my hair BUT I was not coating my hair properly as you said and I woke up with some split ends on one side of my hair more pronounced than the other because I was afraid that using more product would weight my hair down although on the bottle it says words like ' light weight' and " for fine hair". Now after I listened to you and saw the way you apply your leave in products , I will start to apply them diligently on my hair as well to seal my ends better and prevent split ends as much as possible to preserve my length. One more time thank you so much for all the informations you brought to us ❤❤❤❤

But lately (last two weeks) my hair is getting frizzy, I'm seeing noticeable damage, and even after styling my hair with heat, it still gets buffy after a while. I feel so disappointed... but I think this is because I style my hair almost daily, I definitely style my hair a lot without a heat protector and I think I need to use more products so I'm going to test some of the products you recommended. I saw someone doing a hack for a tight ponytail to allow the effect without the same risk of damage. Section of the front of your hair and then put the remaining bulk of your hair into a regular ponytail then take the front section and pull it into a ponytail around the first one and secure with a second tie around both. This means you can make it fairly tight but with the weight of your hair being supported by a regular ponytail then the weight isn't being put through the delicate hairline.

Abbey i’m so glad i came upon your channel. New subscriber here and I absolutely love your channel. I had the misfortune of overprocessed hair and then I went and tried Redken acid bond building pre-treatment and it just made my whole situation worse and I only use the pre-shampoo treatment once but I’m definitely gonna follow your tips my hair is breaking off at all different levels, and it was down past my shoulders. Any tips ? What went wrong? Thanks and blessings

I have been using a mix of drugstore and bond repair products you recommended and following your general guidelines. I felt for so long it wasn’t working much - I have tried for years to grow my hair past my chest - but put my hair in braids the other day and realized it went down to my waist. 😅 I have extremely dry, high porosity hair despite never dying or heating it. I remember begging for a perm in middle school, and it fell out in a couple of months. I dyed my hair black once about ten years ago, and that fell out too. That was the last time I tried doing anything to it. Is it just my genetics? I’ve always preferred my hair long, but it is a little sad that it always looks so damaged. I’m going to keep growing it anyways though. 😊

Glad you mentioned waiting until you're hair is more than 3/4 dry before using any blow dry brush. I feel like they are advertized as blow dryers which is not what they are really intended for. There is no reason to go in with one of those bad boys with sopping wet hair....frankly you shouldn't do that with any hot hair styler asidss from rough drying with an actual blow dryer. Ty for the amazing and honest content. Your hair is stunning 💕

I just started using this oil based on your recommendation and I absolutely love it!!! I also adore the smell of it and I don’t even like coconut smell, but this is a clean and almost perfumey smell. Anyway, it’s amazing. I have extremely dry menopausal hair that has completely changed textures on me! I am applying a very light amount on the days I don’t wash and sleep with it overnight and the next day, I just spray a little dry shampoo at my roots and it’s made such a difference. I apply a heavier amount before shampooing on the days I wash. Anyone who says all oils are the same are misinformed. Thank you for the suggestion. My hair thanks you too!😝

Hii @AbbeyYung, I’ve been following your channel for a while now, I love your advice. I’ve reduced the number of times I wash my hair to twice a week. I have fine hair and used to straighten every single day for over 10 years I just recently discovered I have wavy/curly hair and I’m trying to learn how to care it and style it in a way that makes me happy. It’s hard because I haven’t found a routine that gives me consistent results that I’m happy with. Plus trying to heal my hair from years of heat styling damage. I also feel that a lot of the products that are recommended don’t work for my fine wavy hair. Do you have any recommendations?

I hate hair in my face and I love sleek strict ponytails and braids. But unfortunately pulling hair back too strong is harmful. Since I use Olaplex instead of Kérastase, my hair is so silky that my silk scrunchies slip out easily. Therefore, I would like some detailed instructions on how to create loose buns and braids by using silk scrunchies or pinned back hairstyles with hair clips. Gladly also to let the hair air dry. I only rough dry my roots on a cold setting, then let air dry tossed with silk scrunchies. I would like to know how to air dry and creating waves without heat, brushes or curlers. Thanks for the help in advance.

I know you have scalp sensitivity. I'm having issues w/ K18 but Living Proof seems to be ok. I know you're an ingredient junky, any clues what could be in the K18 that's irritating for some. Just picked up the OGX Miracle Coconut Oil and love it. Thanks for sharing all your hair tips :)

Hi Abbey, maybe a stupid question but do you first squeeze excess water out of your hair with a microfiber towel and then use leave in or do you spray leave in on soaking wet hair and then go to drying your hair? Love the tips! I got the k18 and coconut oil you recommended 😊

Hi Abbey, thank you for this video, I've also been on a hair care journey and my hair is finally getting long and everyone keeps complimenting me on it as it looks so much healthier and I've implemented a lot of what you've suggested into my haircare routine. Do you ever use your Dyson AirWrap at all? It has low heat function and doesn't grab your hair the way some of those other heat styling tools do so just wondering as it's a very expensive product to just leave collecting dust. I only ever use it one day a week maximum and have found it's been alright on my fine hair so wondered if/how you've got on or if you've given it up entirely. Thanks

My Native American grandmother, my entire world, just passed away March 6, and I chopped 20 inches off for her and buried it in her front yard. I am mourning the loss of her and my hair. Hair is huge in our culture and I miss my hair so much. I know I did this chop for her and our culture, but your video somehow popped up on my feed! I would love to use products to help my hair grow now.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your grandmother. Not only long I’m sure her and your hair is absolutely gorgeous. Does the hair represent strength and resilience? I don’t know know but would like to. So no disrespect meant by asking if it represented strength.

Great information thanks for all you do. ..,I’m just getting into learning about professional products versus drugstore and bonding oil and leave in conditioner. I’ve been watching some others also on hair care…but I kind of gave up on my hair I’m 60 years old, red hair, dyed red hair and half my hair is gone so I’m gonna take your tips and others tips from others, which seems to be the same, and apply them and see how it goes, could you possibly do some thing on maintaining hair color that’s dyed red I know it’s the hardest to maintain. Also any information you have on us older women losing hair would be helpful. Thanks so much. Oh, and by the way, your hair color looks so so much better. Love from Kentucky

Hi Abbey! Do you use the Ogx coconut oil before using K18? And do you recommend the Ouai Clarifying shampoo over the K18 clarifying shampoo? Last would you recommend using a clarifying shampoo weekly if you only wash once a week or do you think that is bad for your hair? Ty for all your work on these videos! Just did a big chop and wanting to grow my hair out as healthy as possible.

I use her liason bond shampoo and conditioner and it works amazing. Plus you get 50% off so you can get them both for under $30. In between having none left of the get mission products? I started using the loreal bond strengthening/ repair pre shampoo concentrate, shampoo, and conditioner. I love them and you can't beat the price! My hair is healthier and grows faster, and promotes hair regrowth. My suggestions for a cheaper budget friendly option. Which the loreal bond shampoo and conditioner is recommended by Abbey.
