Grew up in this area, Mum lives in Exmouth. If you go left up the lane in the middle of that row of houses in Yettington, then go left again at the next crossroads you come to high lace overlooking all of Bicton and much more. and from there you can walk in woods, over common land or though fields and farms. Keep up the good walks!

Loving your videos Abbie! My uncle was a forester and a tree surgeon. My sister and I spent our childhood hiking with him and receiving all of the education he could provide on trees, wildlife and edibles out on the trail so it's in my blood! I live on the North Norfolk coast so the local trails are Peddars Way and the Norfolk Coast Path. There are also plenty of trails within striking distance. But thats not why I am here!! I know you don't watch youtube often but i was watching Modern History TV and thought of you. Its all about Knights, horses, swords etc., and our medieval history here in the UK. Thought you would love it and it's very entertaining because he is a modern day knight! He has several horses and a mule. By the way, he is nothing to do with me personally, I just love his channel and I am a sucker for knights, swords, horses and history haha! When walking I can feel the history of a place and see it playing out in my mind's eye. I think you may know what I mean 🙂. Looking forward to watching your next adventure, and thank you for all of your hard work filming, editing and producing the content for us!

The debut of the rather stealthy (at least in this video) Anna, who would take the limelight in the next. Abbie, I'm wondering when this (and the Hardy's Monument one) were filmed.

i remember years ago, back home, one summer it was so hot that the corn in the fields started popping. the skies were filled with popcorn and when the cows saw the popcorn they thought it was snowing and damn near froze in their tracks. we had a heck of a time getting those animals warmed back up. it was 3 weeks before we got any milk out of them silly bovines

I was also out hiking this past Sunday, on an 11-mile loop around the rural area near my home. It was perfect weather and I didn't have to drive anywhere to hike through a similar landscape. I had a mix of woods and open fields to hike through. I just had to pack some water and food, map out my route (and tell my family where I was going) and set out. No fuss. No stress. Easy-peasy mac-n-cheesy. Sometimes, you can get a satisfying hike in just steps from your own front door.

Great video. When you got to the Otterton Crossroads , the name of the place that you couldn`t make out was Exmouth, and previously, you were also at Colleton Raleigh, which is named after Sir Walter Raleigh who was born there.

Hi Abbie, I was up at Lambert's Castle a few days ago and there have been a number of bivvys built in the woods on the north side of the fort - just need a load of ferns to 'thatch' them to complete them as shelters

Ha😀 glad i’m Not the only one. I’ve done that at least twice I can remember, leaving my map or guidebook at home. Real sinking feeling when i’d travelled quite a way to get to the start of the walk. Somehow it all seems to work itself out in the end.Its when I’m most thankful for my subscription to O S maps on my phone. Good vid, thanks.

Hi Abbie, I am enjoying your vids, I am currently stuck in malaysia, which sound exotic and very exciting, but last 4 months of isolation and quarrantine, movement control etc has been a little hard, trekking around my apt compound (2 round = 1km) has made me limp. I have my UK place in Exmouth, and trained on Woodbury for many years, this walk brought back many many happy memories, can't wait to get home.

I don't live far from there, the river is one of my regular walks normally. There are beavers in the river, I once saw them further upstream, a mother and two kits. Will follow the walk to the common next time. I will look out for some Yorkshire ones (my native land), as I am returning there soon.

I know it's not hiking but just managed a 9 mile bike ride with the father in-law. Wife is super strict with my contact with others as I'm diabetic and apparently more at risk. The riding is my cardio workout for the newly set date of the 19th Sept for the Northumberland Mighty Hike for MacMillans'. Need to get those walking miles in soon though to get prepped for the event.

Buddy, you need to come to New Zealand. We have a trail here called Te Araroa, you would love it. Its a long distance tramping route, stretching circa 3,000 kilometres along the length of New Zealand's two main islands from Cape Reinga to Bluff. www.teararoa.org.nz/ Stay safe Abbie, really enjoying your channel and hopefully you make it over here some day. I would be more than happy to make you a cup of tea.
