This is basically a Talkpod a36. I find air band ok compared to other Chinese Handheld radios. Chirp should work with it and also the Talkpod cps.

Airband receive is awful! I am sure with a large external, elevated antenna it would probably receive better.

@@HamRadioCrusader I noticed a lot of these new Chinese radios that come with Airband receive are pretty much trash. Maybe you will come across a better quality one in the future. I will be watching. Thanks KC4UFO

Hello, I'm also retired LEO of 32yrs and getting deeper into GMRS and Ham radios. I talked my friends into purchasing radios and buying them for family members, (SHTF Scenario's) and I've purchased a few Baofengs and just purchased this Abbree AR730. I've got my GMRS licn and studying for Ham. I was wondering if you've figured out any of shortcuts for the AR730. {which buttons to hold to access features} I watched your video but couldn't see which one you held to switch from "channel to frequency mode". I just didn't want to screw up the radio, but I guess if all else fails, I could do a reset in the menu. Also, like you, I searched the web over with no luck and Abbree's web site doesn't list this model radio either. &^@#$#$ Any help is appreciated. J.R.

I guess I didn't reach down far enough in the cereal box, but still didn't find anything that helps..LOL BUT... after more research.... the Talkpod a36plus has s similar keypad and after looking at it's downloaded manual some of the long press shortcuts will be the same. I'll just play with it more and make some comparisons and notes, but if you already had it figured out, that would be nice..... BUT NO HURRY !!!!!

Hello, I've tried to listen to aircraft tower, but when I fill in the MHZ frequencies I don't get any sound out, I'm on VFO, I don't know what it means or how to change it, but could you help me to change it to MHZ

One of the worst radios I've purchased, I've already returned it! Airband is unusable, squelch doesn't work correctly and local repeaters that can be heard with my 2W radio, never keyed up with this radio. I wanted to like it because it's very light and portable but unfortunately it's just an overpriced toy.

After a while using it now I am inclined to agree. Even though it transmits and receives just fine, IT's CHEAP!!! and it's in line with the amount of money I paid for it. It is not something to rely upon in the event of REAL Ham Radio usage. I would not recommend it for field work, just to dink around the house with is just fine.

Air band works fine if you buy an antenna tuned to the air band. Smiley antennas sells great specifically tuned antennas.
