Nice one, Matt! Airband aside, why would you want to buy this radio at £50+ if you can get basically the same features (and slightly less spurious harmonics) in a Quansheng UV-K5/6, which you can get for around £20? I'm actually pleasantly surprised by the shockingly cheap Quansheng radios, and the fact you can load community-developed firmware on them makes them the Raspberry Pi of the HT world. The ideal "chuckie" radio.

Both the Radtel and the Aabbre radios are absolutely identical, even the firmware. I brought some recently of both, and paid no more than £26 delivered. You just need to look around for the better price.

It must be using a square wave LO if it’s getting all those harmonics. If I may ask, what PC app(program gui) do you use to control and view data from, you spectrum analyzer?? Is it the TinySA app by One of Eleven or a variant thereof? I’ll have to take a trip to groups io and see what I’m missing? Thanks for all the great videos!!

I just unboxed abbree ar-869. I am experiencing a peculiar problem when I transmit, it transmits DTMF codes aka landline telephone pulse tones. Any ides as to what setting to shut that feature off?

Same problem with the spurious emissions in my Radtel RT-490. When I bought it I didn't check the CE marking (to use it in Europe), ... My fault. Speaker is good. Battery life not that good as the quansheng uv-k5

Thanks for sharing ... it seem so many manufacturers of such multiband radios are too thrifty to use any filtering or band filter switching before the signals gets into the obviously total wideband final TX stage. Imagine you climb on a mointain and operate this radio ... you will cause real interference on the military VHF airband, which results in serious trouble. If there would be the slightest RF quality check this would not even leave the factory and I am pretty sure this is a generic circuit design problem, not a singular technical defect because I have seen a bunch of almost identical radios that had a horrific issue with VHF harmonics in the lower UHF band, exactly like this one. I wonder if stuff like that gets imported to Germany with a fake CE lable?!
