Going back to the moment Luby first met and first dated in season 7, it didn’t matter they broke up back then it was that Abby was brought into Lukas life to start the strong foundation of their love and it was apparent they loved each other deeply even when they weren’t dating after the first break up. Luka looked at her with such intense love and passion for her and Abby loved him hard you could always see it in her eyes. She cared about him always even when they dated others. Timing was everything but with Carter gone the second round it was perfect. They were able to nourish that love and Joe made it solid as steel. I was so thankful for Abby because of how much Luka lost in his life. Carol was so right, Luka was a wonderful man and he’d meet the person who deserved him.

@@mom4u412012 Wrong, Frank wasn't part of the ER staff. Carol Hathaway was supposed to be only in the pilot a successful drug OD but fan support was so strong she was written into the main cast. Even their regulars stuck with the show.

My opinion the roll of Abby Lochart played by Maura Tierney was one of the main reasons why ER stayed on the air years after Mark Greens death. The show seemed to be more about her than even Noah Wiley. Show all of her life's struggles from nurse to doctor to mom. ER was an amazing show for so many reasons. The one big one was that the camera would follow the actors from one room to the other. it was more like you following the actor opposed to just watching them. That had never been done on television before that. Michael Crichton was the mast and writer of the show. He past shortly before the show end 2008.

Obviously, the show is halved, the Mark half, and the non Mark half. They killed off too many characters, unnecessarily, as the latter half went on. Or just losing characters. I had no problem with Carter being 'the star' but I agree, this turned into the Abby show also, and I'm very okay with that. Tierney was (is) brilliant. But Rocket getting killed, Pratt and Gallant being killed off...main characters were dying/killed so often the last few years, it wasn't even surprising anymore. I think losing Corday really hurt the show too; there weren't enough POWERFUL, strong, female leads on here without her. (Again, LOVE Tierney, not taking away from her, and Innes has her moments, but she doesn't do it for me) and losing Luka sucked too. I know Archie we only got (what season 10 he started popping around?) but I can't help but love him and his character.

@@thurman1701 I think Rocket being killed opened up the door for Corday to leave but his death was completely pointless. I thought the helicopter crash was a cool twist but Rockets death was too much. I think Gallant and Neela had more potential for deeper storylines and Gallant did not need to be killed off. With Corday that could have brought Rachel back a few times but that was difficult to do because she was in St. Louis, we barely saw her when Mark was still alive and she lived in St. Louis. I still think that move storyline was kind of pointless. Other than that giving her the finding love again after Mark died.

100%. They were really good friends IRL (still are), and I feel like that came through really well in their scenes. They both absolutely loved the Abby/Luka story and really threw themselves into it. For me, they’re the best (and most realistic) couple on the show.

@@_Lane_ while I agree that season 14 was weak, I don’t at all agree that season 15 was weak. The first episode, when Pratt died? Heartbreaking, but a great episode. The third one, when Abby left? Also a sad but great episode. Episode five and the return of Shane West as Ray was a great episode. Episode seven had the flashback with Dr. Green and Romano. That was an awesome episode. Noah Wylie was back for several episodes with a great story arc. We got the return of several other major characters, including a whole episode featuring Doug and Carol. Season 15 was very strong with awesome episodes. The ratings were higher for season 15 than they had been for several seasons.

I should have made time to watch, not only for the lessons it would have taught me then, but also for how I would even appreciate more what I have now! It truly is never too late! In this case, I extend my gratitude to Pop TV. What an underrated scene between Frank and Abby! Frank, or more especially Jerry and Chuny, in my opinion, could easily have been a basis for the last episode. They could have retired, having been truly the last of the originals to depart, while County continued on. Alas...still amazing!

They broke up, thank God. Carter dumped her via a letter sent through Luka. He couldn’t cope with the fact that he couldn’t fix her to his standards. 🤷🏼‍♀️

@@DJThump_her She didn't need to be fixed. Carter always wanted the fantasy he had of Abby. He never saw her for who she was. They were both good people. They were just absolutely wrong together.

@@jent6767 I agree she didn't need to be fixed. I do think he saw her for who she was, but subconsciously it wasn't good enough for him. I think that's why he tried so hard. All in all the timing was off. If they had been together maybe 10 years in the future they probably would have made it. Alas, we'll never know.
