It is not the 22.23 that matters...it is her patience and I believe she has not lost a race this year. She has not run a bad race yet. She is relaxed in the finishes of all her races. She is building for a moment. Track is only remembers the time and Abby as a pro is clearly on a mission to be ready for a future meet. She won that race easy. She could have started a little quicker and finished stronger but she is training. Reminds me of Michael Phelps racing in meets before the team trials with hairy legs and chest and a beard. He was winning and letting everyone know it was just practice.

Very true, plus its only her first 200m in 8 months since Worlds last year. Barely any women are going to be putting up low 22s like this early in the season. Look at Gabby Thomas last week, only ran 22.46. But as you said April races aren't about times, they're about working on fundamentals, starts, and finishes, and getting an idea of where you're currently at so you can take it back to practice and build off of it. Goal is always to try and peak later on in the season for Nationals and Worlds which are also a full month later this year than they were last year. Solid performance here for Steiner.

Well, she and the rest of the United States women better be worried. The young lady that was running up on her: Tamari Davis. The 20-year-old from Florida. She ran just a few seconds better than her personal best that she set in 2018, when she was......15!!!! She was fifteen and running a 22.48. Her coaching team has brought her along slowly, which seems to be working. Last year, she posted 10.83 in 100 meters. She has not run 200 meters regularly for over three years. Seems like their focus was to get competitive in the 100 meters, in which she finished 4th last year at the nationals at 19. This year seems like they are branching her out. By Nationals (barring no injury), she will be a beast. Oh, by the way, she beat ShaCarri, TT, and a field of young ladies at Prefontaine. They were 17,18, and 19. She was 13. One last thing, ShaCarri running like she did in the 100 meters also should cause worry. She is a natural 200 meter runner as well. Praying for no injuries, this year in track, will not be an easy walkover like last year. You will have ShaCarri, Gabby, Abby, Tamari, Tamara Clark (yet to see her run) and a host of others on the track.

I don't know anything about the science of running, but I have noticed many times, Ms. Steiner's head barely moves when she runs compared to other runners. I assume that is a good thing, based on results.

Like you, I know little about the science of running, but I've noticed the same thing about her head. Her torso seems also more stable than other runners. Some say her unorthodox, choppy arm movements slow her down, but I think it helps her maintain that stability.

I'm not familiar with those she ran against but you all continue to sleep on this girl. Her coach is training her right. 400m for stamina, 100m for power, 200m for the combo. Everybody's in trouble this season. Perfect timing for ET-H to surprise everyone, even Abby "superstar" steiner.

Exactly this is a perpetrator track race . Finding random girls to race with abby to make her look good. Paid stunt actors 😂😂😂😂😂 they did the same thing with lolo "slow" Jones. Until she got exposed and moved on to bobsledding.

Bad start by Abby, and she still pushed hard enough to pull out the win. But her first 40 wasn't good. That says a lot about her strength and composure. When you can win races with bad starts, you are reaching a peak level. Hopefully, she can pull everything together and challenge for the Gold in the 200m.

She said in early interviews that she would be training her start with training partner Christian Coleman. Let’s wait and see if that will help her starts. Coach hall I’m sure has identified a area of improvement.

I know track. Abby is the greatest female in history. I see progression which is UNBELIEVABLE. She has found a training routine. She can control her breathing at exactly the precise time in the race. Her mental control is that of a champion. Perfect body. I have never been more excited for womens track. Just a hint...I am from Nashville.

Man, pump the brakes lol. I wouldn't debate if you just said currently...but "in history"? She will need to dominate for many years and hold/defend world records to be considered the greatest female to ever run. You even said you see progression and still consider her the greatest of all times. Until that happens, this can't be objectively argued.

How many world records does she hold? None. How many times has she beaten the "best," world class (Jamaicans) sprinters in this event? None. How many world campion titles does she have? None. I just saw her get smoked by Sha'Carri in the 100m, where she finished eighth & in last place. No my man, she is not the "greatest." She is still second tier, but will be exciting to see if she is able to move into the top tier. Let the races begin . . . .
