This is absolutely amazing, thanks so much for this! I've been getting myself hopelessly muddled trying to figure out the dominant hand of people on youtube and which part of the sign should be dominant. Thanks so much for such a clear explanation. Also the "your perspective" bit is amazingly helpful - that's another thing that had been stumping me.

Thanks for making this! I was struggling to learn watching other resources. Even though I'm left handed your video was the easiest to learn from! It's the only one I've found with the signs from your own POV and it made all the difference. You're really good at explaining and I appreciated how you kept describing the position of the dominant hand/fingers.

It's been four years so you a) might not see this and b) if you do, you might already know this, but as this video is super helpful, I am hoping my tip will also be slightly helpful: While I think your hands look fine, if you are worried, put some light moisturising cream on your hands (and only hands) before putting the fake tan on. The cream stops the tan seeping into any of the cracks/dryness on your hands/fingers (especially in the webbing area). Thank you so much for such a helpful video.

Hi, I get a bit confused about what sign language is being shown in different videos. At school I learnt British two handed spelling which uses the same signs that you are using, but then some videos show single handed spelling, but the people in them speak with American accents so I take it they are using American sign language. Can you tell me is British two handed spelling the same as Australian sign language? Also is there a single handed version of Australian sign language? Thanks so much.

I have an Aussie friend learning AUSLAN. I'm American and have been using American Sign Language since '91. I've noticed that there are some things that are very similar to each other and some things that are radically different. Like fingerspelling. Which, to be fair, is not too surprising as they are different languages.

AUSLAN is related to British Sign Language (BSL) and also New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL), the three descended from the same parent language and are part of the BANZSL language family. All of the mentioned signed languages share identical fingerspelling :)

i was reading that Auslan was based off of the BSL orginally, - as well as NZSL (new zealand) they all fit into the BANZSL group and due to this share quite a few similarities, although not completely the same either. whereas the American variant relied more heavily on the LSF (french sign language) and is therefore quite vastly different. not an expert on this by any means but hope this may shed a little light
