Went to my Dermatologist 15 years ago, and said I thought it was Rosacea. He said no, it was a bad sunburn and burnt blood vessels, use make up to cover it up and live with it. As the years passed, I got lots worse. Now I'm 49 and still not in menopause and Metronidazole has helped, but so many stressers, what can one put on to keep one's skin from looking like it's been burnt by chemicals? Medication first? Moisturizer next? Makeup? I tend to avoid makeup because it sometimes triggers me.
@MssNatski12 жыл бұрын
Metrogel and finacea are often relatively harsh creams for the vascular subtype, where one suffers from flushing, redness and burning mainly. For the papular subtype it often works wonders, but for the vascular subtype it can just as well cause iriitation of the skin and more redness, I and many rosaceans on The Rosacea Forum found. Treating the flushing is the toughest aspect of rosacea often and not enough dermatologists look outside the traditional box of metrocream and antibiotics unfortly

My biggest triggers is when it gets too cold or too hot, chocolate, alcohol, smoke, hot drinks, anything spicy. And it's a pain in the ass. My Rosacea gets out of control freaking fast. Especially on my nose and cheeks. It gets super red and irritated. I don't have fair skin(I'm Hispanic and a bit of in the darker completion) I always accidentally scratch myself and make myself bleed.

If you use foundation, make sure you don't have high volumes of oil or alcohol in the product as these can also be triggers

There are a number of possibilities, rosacea is among them. It would be worth seeing your dermatologist to evaluate for you and offer a treatment plan to reduce the redness and also minimize it from recurring or progressing. One thing is critical and that is that you use sun protection every day all year round. Regards, Dr Day

I'm 18 turning 19 and I have had rosacea for two years already. I have tried the proper medical route, but it was a medical spa, referred to me by my mom's friend who's son has skin issues (different than mine) that was my miracle. I'm now on a cleanser, toner and moisturizer routine, twice a day. I avoid the sun and try to not be stressed as much.

I think rosacea is basicly just alot of hair vessels in your skin (my rosacea is caused by fitness, I believe in my case) which cause to expend and constrict depending on stress/warmth or any other factor which influences the blood circulatory system. Having large pores on top of those bloodvessels cause the pores to get clogged quickly which can then expand into more stimulation of blood circulation because of inflammation of the pores.
@MsTainteddove12 жыл бұрын
I got it at 35, told the Dermatologist what I thought it was, they called in a much older DR who agreed, it was NOT that, instead it was just burst blood vessels in my face due to a bad burn, to use makeup that's better. So for the next 10 years it only got worse and worse with only at Menopause (45), did I get finally diagnosed with, tada.... Rosacea. I was given 1 medication, then another, then another then it was a combination of two that finally helped. I still have to avoid stressers!
@Nrisagieri12 жыл бұрын
Stress I think is my biggest trigger of all. The sun always makes my skin super red and also lack of sleep. If I get enough sleep the sun's effect on my skin is lessened. I think the summer heat wave along with my obsession with aragola (I ate the stuff everyday) was my initial trigger. The aragola especially, and since then aragola, spinach and other vegetables seem to also cause flare ups in my case.
@injanhoi14 жыл бұрын
I've finally accepted it I have this. I haven't been formally diagnosed but mine is similar to the image shown in 0.57. Funny thing I didn't really care about it before and my parents never said anything. My Dad seems to have it at times so mine could be hereditary. My Rosacea flares up in the summer. This skin issue seem to have developed in my mid 30s. I did have a lot of acne when I was a teenager and my skin is very oily.

I started a keto diet and my rosacea is almost completely gone. Sugar is the worst along with wheat and dairy. I cheated on Thanksgiving and not only did my skin break out but my gut felt like crap too. I fasted for 36 hours and all the redness and breakouts are gone. Now I know I can never go back to a traditional diet without suffering the consequences. Rosacea is without a doubt a gut issue.

I'm on metrogel and Finacea BOTH on my face. I use it only once a day to avoid any owies but, twice a day when it gets a flare up. It takes away the bumps in no more than 48 hours. In another 48 the red is a soft pink, like makeup. If I miss days and my stress or heat/cold is out of wack, then my rosacea swells and itches and burns. I hate it! I'm 48 now. When I was 35 the doctors misdiagnoised me and I never got help until over 10 years later. It's much worse now. See your derm!!

I was born with rosy red cheeks and very sensitive skin. I'm not 100% it's rosacea, because it is constant and I don't get irritation unless I use something fragranced on it. I've read about green products, but I find they make my white areas of skin look green, so it's important to only put it on the red areas.

Different approaches for different people, but one thing to keep in mind are some of the common denominators - stress, spicy food, heat, cold, etc. IMO such extremes cause toxin flushes from the liver which come thru the skin at the weakest points. First 3 days of using her prescribed meds (antibiotic & topical) my face broke out even worse than ever. I freaked out and called dr again. Just gave me different meds. No clue, she was guessing what to do. What a joke of a Dr. Needless to say, I'm not going back to her...after a month I'm still red on my right cheek..

Did you know rosacea often goes along with a bacterial infectio, so called Staph aureus bacteria? I recently tried a new product called Gladskin. My redness has been reduced with more than 90%. They say it only works when this specific bacteria is involved and its often the case in skin diseases such as rosacea, eczema and acne. I thought I had to share this with you guys. Only problem of the product is, i think its quite expensive, but I feel more happy now and I look much better so for me its definitly worth it.

This is a good overall but it is still is a very basic overview, as it is a very complex facial skin disorder and often eye disease as well. tt can have many triggers that cause flare ups of flushing and redness and the often associated real physical burning pain with the face and the eyes, as in my severe case! It can be hell for many sufferers!

+Pamela you can try using the bodyshop tea tree oil range and pure tea tree oil. I've been using the range alongside with pure tea tree oil (which I dilute in water so that my skin doesn't burn then gently dab it on to my skin) once it is absorbed I use the body shop tea tree night lotion and massage it into my face before I get into bed. NONE worked so far (zinc oxide containing only dries out my skin more and makes it flaky, other cremes grease my skin and cause more papustles since i got wide pores). Sun is a triggering factor for the rosacea on my nose (with large pores and minor bumps). Every time I apply sunscreen, the white residues would get stuck in my large pores, which cannot be removed by any gentle cleanses that I've tried. I don't put on anything (not even moisturizer) for my nose in fear of clogging the pores and triggering flareups. My nose is not flaring but it has remained RED for YEARS now. If you have Rosacea dont ever use a derma roller. Rosacea is destruction on your skin and the derma roller is also destruction on the skin to eventually promote healing for many benefits. Problem is the rosacea and the roller combined will just cause more breakage and therefore more irritation. Ive tried it and it made it worse.

Because Rosacea dries out the skin, having alcohol only dries out the skin more, having large pores an oil based cream or make up will clog the pores. You need an moisterizer which is based on a non oil base with no alcohol (or alcohol denat.) If it itches or makes your skin red it isn't suited for you. Furthermore, a grean concealer works great for covering up the redness (again chalk dries out the skin, find one without it on a mineral base)

Oracea often does not help for facial flushing and erythema, and tends to work much better for the papular subtype (acne like paps) and occular rosacea. I have severe vascular rosacea with flushing, burning and redness and I found some controle with medication that my London prof. dermatologists prescribed me, called clonidine. I also use remeron (low dose) that works on the central nervous system (flushing) and a beta blocker. For more information, I have a wegblog, scarletnat.blogspot.com.

Omg can you please tell me how you did it? And how long it took? I'm 15 and I also have rosacea...
@SwXtchi11 жыл бұрын
I know what the cause of rosacea is. there are disturbances in the pituitary gland and hormones. Go to the doctor and have a full check. It may be a big reason why some have it and not.

it all starts in the brain.

is quite disappointed that doctors and scientists have not researched enough on what really is the cause. Demodex mite, Helicobacter pylori. Too much Cathelicidin in the blood , Gluten Allergy, histamine allergy, too much acid in the body .. etc. All of this can be an aggravating factor, but is not the real cause.

+DigitalDel1 ...The demodex mite is not proven to be the SOLE cause of rosacea in anyone with the condition! It seems to be implicated in it's cause and progression but just exactly how and why has not yet been proven either

The person to tell you if you have rosacea is a doctor or a dermatologist. You are best not to self-diagnose.

@lildaves91911 жыл бұрын
But no after those first 10 session you are done. then you can go once every year or once ever two years if you like but the process takes like 2 years when you start but you can stop whenever you like. it feels like someone taking a rubber band and snapping your face but its quick
