Is there a special tool you use for curling the petals? I've tried a toothpick, a knitting needle and Cricut paper curling tool but mine dont come out even close to as good as yours

It's nothing special, it's like hand sewing awl tool, the fact is I use knitting needles to manipulate, but it's quite entangled when record video, you only use the force to press hard at the fingertips when stripping them, if you are familiar with this technique, you can use any other tool for them like barbecue skewers bamboo or scissors...
