I saw a news conference in Orange County California and they said you should change your pin the night before your benefits hit your account. That way if your card has been compromised they won't have access to the card with the old PIN number

They tried to take 1400.00 but that amount was rejected cuz I only have 535 & my son is going through puberty so he eats a lot. Ebt isn't meant to cover all food costs, it's a supplement program. Groceries cost has gone up so much the past 3 years. 2 years ago we only received 300$ and was really hard to have enough food. Ebt we only get food benefits so I can only buy food, there is no cash possible with my card. Please educate yourself.

Why are EBT cards being used in ATMs? Had to Google that and apparently more than food benefits is used on those cards so yeah, can be used to get cash. Seems weird to me especially if ATMs are a problem.

Grocery stores deliver now , if the assistance is for food on the table then make the recipient fill out and send in a grocery list and have the store deliver or recipient go pick it up. It would be a lot cheaper than the broken system in place now !

These people are working with others in other states. My Father in law receives food stamps and one day me and him went to the store so he could shop when we got to the register there was no money on the card. We learned that a meat market in New York had drained the card twice of all it's money. Turns out there are other cases according to reviews on their google review board. They knew when my father in-law was getting his money which right there tells me that this could also be someone inside...it was taken very early in the morning from that meat market which tells me they are part of the scam.

@cassandra9699when I was a little girl, my mom and I were on these benefits for a few months. I remember this time very well. I think we tried to do our best to only buy healthy foods. Healthy foods are always quite expensive so most of the benefit amount always went towards that. I think the benefit amount should go towards healthy foods and limit the unhealthy ones. Little luxuries like sweets are nice but maybe limit it. When you’re in this situation, I think it’s best to try to do best for your body. I think it could help a lot of families maybe make a healthy change in diet. They can always go back to eating whatever foods they like once they are in a better financial place. I come from a very unhealthy part of the United States where 75% of the population is obese or worse. I think this shapes my perspective.

I was surprised to hear that a recipient can use a ebt card to get cash at a atm…..I would think it would be safer just to use it at whatever store you’re shopping at…..and check your balance before you shop….

Not really if it's a cash benefit only used once at an ATM would be safer than swipping at the gas station at the store etc. Also if the recipient 'cashes the check' at the ATM and then changed their passcode every month there's nothing on the card to steal

They'restill the old style swipe cards here, which aren't as secure as more current chips and tap systems. That would go a long way. It's my understanding the majority of the losers are the holders of the cards. They go without until next month's refill.
