Not completely normal. You don't say? Does this station think this is normal in other places? Hosts first question is about counseling for the police? How about is there a suspect at large. Either (well, not necessarily either) this news station is callous and detached or not telling us that the suspect is either in the hospital or was found in the house. Instead of bootlicking, maybe suggest resources for the whole community to help cope with stress. At least ABC4 did not (in this broadcast) go out of their way to say this happened near a school. Good to know there are neigbors as kind as the one who lived there since 1973 who when informed about an unfed dog would not even go knock on the door.
