What is working ??? Nobody goes to downtown anymore due to high crime, expensive rent, lack of business friendly policy by our useless city government not to mention expensive parking fees, downtown is dead .

Sure looks dead. I don’t think Covid is to blame, except maybe as a last straw. All the reasons you listed add up to a big challenge that occasional special events simply won’t solve.

Crime is still ongoing against your car windows. Tourists that have been victimized swear never to come back. Stores are closed and trying to buy from ROSS is like visiting prison due to high security.

I’m all for it no matter the cost, whether it be millions or billions. The street people deserve only the best facilities.

Until the city fixes and reduces the on going theft and crime, aw well as the drug dealing and homelessness issues, most people will continue to stay away from downtown San Francisco.

when businesses are "doing well" suddenly they become very arrogant as if to say "hey we don't need your business, get out of here". Then over time people stop doing business with them. so now here comes the so called " new downtown revitalization push...". It takes time, but bad attitudes of businesses do eventually get them put out of business.

It's the drugs, homelessness, crimes, and prostitution. I stopped going to downtown. I used to go to Civic Center for cultural experiences and downtown to shop/dine. Thank you Gavin, Weiner, and London for driving this beautiful city to the ground. You all worked incredibly hard to get here.

Tourists can't replace all the businesses you chased out during COVID, or the squalor in the streets, or all the big businesses moving out of the city. Prattle on all you want about tourists, they won't solve this and never would have. It's over.

I used to work downtown, and it was vibrant. How about we just admit that ideas that may have looked good on paper have actually been disastrous in practice? Then perhaps we can start finding our way back.

Remember when San Francisco was AMAZING and one of the best cities in the whole WORLD in the 2000s and 2010s ??? CONGRATS, you KILLED IT !!!! Now it's full of old people in their 40s, 50s and 60s.

Now it's just FULL of mid-life crisis Karens and Kevins, meanwhile YOUNG people dont want anything to do with it .... YOUNG people create vibrance and energy, old people stay in their apartments all day long.

People are scared for smash and grabs, people want to see a change in crime. San Francisco is still very unsafe. But we must thank worst mayor ever London breed. And her soft stance on crime.

It's simple. DRUGS AND CRIME. I loved to go to downtown to shop but the city promotes drug and pro crime. Let's see how Pearsall's case ends up. I stopped going to the Civic Center Area for the same reason. That's a cultural mecca. It's unfortunate.
