We have so many micro climates but we need scientist's input, not politicians or business corporations. We need micro detailed solutions. Many areas are pressured to cut down trees, wells are becoming unpredictable, LA should stop housing growth due to water issues.

Good for you, I lived in the Bay area back in the early 80s and loved it although it was already getting too expensive for regular working folks to live there... unfortunately most Americans have been consuming fossil fuels and other resources like drunken sailors for the last 50+ years with zero regard for the consequences to the environment, the economy, themselves or the rest of the planet...and especially a lot of those Rich assholes in the Bay area who have all that money from tech companies and live in HUGE gated mansions and fortified compounds while driving around in huge SUVs and gas guzzling sports cars (oh and a bunch of Teslas to make the a-hole Musk rich!) Seriously we are so screwed, humans will be extinct well before 2050.

As long as we have an economic structure that depends on continuous growth, we'll keep marching toward failure. The actual fundamental that is relevant is that energy and materials are necessary to provide products and services. Do energy and materials replenish at the rate of consumption? Lol, no. Neglecting the second order effects of the waste products and process of acquiring energy and materials, the whole concept of continuous GDP growth ad infinitum is a fairytale. Is there any serious societal move to address this? Lol, no. We're in for some serious shit.

Imo the biggest crisis in the Bay Area is that it is over populated and over priced. Fixing the homelessness problem should be priority #1. Growing up I was taught that if you had a full time job you'd be able to afford to live and have a place of your own even if you were making just minimum wage. The fact that a single person has to make close to $100,000 a year in order to afford living comfortably in the Bay Area is the real disaster.

- We live in the same climate as it was 5 million years ago and the cancer will go away - I have an explanation regarding the cause of the climate change and global warming, it is the travel of the universe to the deep past since May 10, 2010. Each day starting May 10, 2010 takes us 1000 years to the past of the universe. Today May 25, 2024 the state of our universe is the same as it was 5 million and 129 thousand years ago. On october 13, 2026 the state of our universe will be at the point 6 million years in the past. On june 04, 2051 the state of our universe will be at the point 15 million years in the past. On june 28, 2092 the state of our universe will be at the point 30 million years in the past. On april 02, 2147 the state of our universe will be at the point 50 million years in the past. The result is that the universe is heading back to the point where it started and today we live in the same climate as it was 5 million years ago. GLOBAL WEATHER CATASTROPHE PREDICTIONS : “The world has been chilling sharply for about 20 years,” ecologist Kenneth Watt said in 1970. “If present trends continue, the world will be about 4 degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990 but 11 degrees colder in the year 2000. "There are huge non climate effects of carbon dioxide which are overwhelmingly favorable which are not taken into account. To me that's the main issue that the earth is actually growing greener. This has been actually measured from satellites the whole earth is growing greener as a result of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. So it's increasing agricultural yields, it's increasing the forests, it's increasing all kinds of growth in the biological world and that's more important and more certain than the effects on climate." ~Freeman Dyson, Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey.

Preparing for sea level rise, Port of San Francisco plans: 2 feet lift by 2050, 7 feet lift by 2100. Those elevations are about twice early IPCC estimates for sea level rise, which indicate a cautious approach. However, IPCC estimates are heavily affected by political influences that have been conservative. If the estimates are inaccurate, and many climate models predict substantially larger rises which are supported by unanticipated changes that continue to be observed, then the effort could be insufficient to address sea level rise. Yes, the effort costs money. Maybe responding with incremental change will prove cost effective. I hope so, though I have grave doubts.

We cannot do much or any prescribed burning due to the lack of a sufficient 'window' of optimum wind, thermal, moisture conditions in British Columbia. Most public announcements of a prescribed burn are cancelled. It is like there is no spring season, only summer and winter. Sooo now we are looking at biological vegetation management using cattle, sheep and goats. The goats do the best overall prescribed burning (not literally). Venting index in March and April is usually too poor in the lower valleys. I did prescribed burns for decades in the fall and late summer until we had too many escapes.

LOL Get this my grandmother had a Bay front property and as the water receeded and they had landfills her proplerty was no longer bay front because they will fill in the bay and sell that property as bay front that went on for a very long time to the point you would never have known she oould have ever purchased her home as bay front property. So the idea that the water will come up and cover the land fill lol and thus make her property bay front again is HILLARIOUS TO ME. Granted she is no longer alive but I am and its amazing

As a transportation system planner I must object to the claim "The only thing we can do is stop burning fossil fuels." The problem isn't how we power our cars, trucks, shipping vessels, air freight, air travel, motorized big boy toys, etc. The problem is how much we routinely travel by car and the unsustainably long distances we transport essential goods and household commodities. The electric vehicle tech that offers most benefits, applications and potential to reduce fuel/energy consumption, emissions AND insane traffic is...wait for it...plug-in hybrid PHEV tech eventually utilizing combustible hydrogen in the ICEngines of PHEV+H drivetrains. PHEV tech is especially applicable to long-haul freight truck and trans-oceanic shipping fleets. PHEV tech is equally applicable to personal cars, vans, trucks, public transit bus fleets. PHEV+H tech can deliver more than twice the equivalent MPG possible in Hydrogen Fuel Cell EVs. All-battery BEV tech is most suitable for lightweight vehicles and short distance needs. (Only the very smartest people can see just how smart the emperor's new smart car is. The BMW subcompact "Smart Car" is the smartest BEV.)

Really? How do you fix stupidity? People are not going to do without their stuff, nor do they want to dig in the dirt planting their food, use less things that create more garbage, like water, soda, and other plastic, bottled stuff. Man loves his/her convinces! They don't want to be hot, and they don't want to be cold, and they don't want to have to pick their own genetically altered fruits and veggies. They want to drive to the supper market and get it all packaged and wrapped in plastic and placed on sterofoam trays, and carried home in plastic bags which all goes into their plastic garbage bags, taken to their outside plastic trash can, carted away by a big gas guzzling truck, to a place, somewhere, deposited there, and then what happens to all that garbage?? Who knows? Does anyone even care?

The United States is the largest source of historic CO2 emissions in total. Combine that with our gluttonous consumption on a per Capita basis and no nation can touch us. China’s emissions exceed ours, but 1/3 of their CO2 is from manufacturing. Guess who is the largest importer of Chinese Goods - it’s the Good Old US of A. I doubt anyone has done the calculations, but I’d bet that the Bay Area might be responsible for more GHG’s than any other part of the US. CO2 is highly correlated with wealth. Transportation is the number one cause of emissions for SFBA, CA, US. We should be tearing down freeways, fully funding transit, and putting bike lanes on every bridge. Merchant corridors should be car-free. Change or perish.

GLOBAL Warming Catastrophe Prediction - "Brown said that “entire nations could be wiped off the face of the earth by rising sea levels if global warming is not reversed by the year 2000. Coastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus of ‘eco-refugees,’ threatening political chaos, said Brown, director of the New York office of the U.N. Environment Program.”"
