What ive only seen from all those prominent so called prophets, is complete rubbish, claiming to speak for God.

mark 27:08; i'm looking at the greek and the "in" is actually "ek" or "out from" which i think is interesting. so furthering the understanding that something is happening "part out from the whole" but when looking at the word "part" he is correct in that it is used about 41 times(kjv) however this word "meros" doesn't only refer to "regionally". for instance Mark 24:51 speaks of the "portion/meros" with hypocrites. Luke 12:46 "portion/meros" with unbelievers. here's another one Luke 11:36 "part/meros" with dark, speaking of the whole body. John 13:8 "part/meros" with Jesus is He doesn't wash Peters feet. just some that i'm looking at cursory. now going to continue watching

Prophets are still around today. (But hear me out:) When someone who you probably just met, or don’t really know, is in conversation with you, or someone else, and they speak truth from Scripture that hits to your heart, which if you knew the person you might get angry with them thinking they are throwing up your sin in your face (how rude!). But since you don’t know the person, and the person/messenger doesn’t know you or your specific sin, then it was God’s prophet that you met. Usually, the person/messenger doesn’t even know they said anything that rebuked you. Sometimes they will know later on, but not at the time they speak it, because it wouldn’t be authentic from God. Someone giving you advice or their opinion is not prophetic. These are Providential Encounters that ONLY God could make happen. People dismiss these providential encounters at their own peril. What they should do, when cut to the heart by a stranger, is ask God to forgive them of that sin and cleanse them, just like King David said in Psalms 51. God sent His messenger into your life to show you your sin that you thought nobody knew about and that you thought you were getting away with. Non-repentance from such providential encounters is “why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.” First Cor. 11:30

Ephesians 4: 11 And [Christ] gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Luke 11: 47 Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. 48 Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres. 49 Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute: 50 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; 51 From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation. 52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.

Matthew 29: 29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, 30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. 31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.

When are you claiming that God did away with the office of a prophet? What authority did Peter & Paul have to claim revelation for the whole church? ie The taking of the gospel to the gentiles. When one apostle died they called another, why did that process not continue? Why in Revelation is it prophesied the 2 witnesses and prophets would be killed near the end times?

I’m referring to the office of a prophet in the context of the old covenant. I’m defending the need and scriptural basis for prophecy. But it looks different in the NT vs the OT.

New covenant, new rules. The only people in the OT with the Holy Spirit were the prophets, some priests and kings. The common Israelite did not have the Holy Spirit, so their only test was "did it come to pass?" This is also why the punishment was so steep. In the NT, every true believer has the Spirit, so the common believer is to be the judge over what is true or not. This is why there is no restatement of 'kill anyone who gets it wrong.' The NT says to judge all things and hold fast to what is true.

"New covenant, new rules" is an interesting statement. Yes, the New covenant has different parameters, of course. But the apostle Paul still gleans from the Old Covenant at times. We see this at least two times in 1 Corinthians. In chapter 9 he uses the Law to understand the right of pastors to be paid and in chapter 14 he uses the Law to understand how women ought to behave in the church. Paul says that "the Law is good if used properly" (1 Tim 1:8-10). The Law of God, as expressed in the Old Covenant, still has great value and wisdom for us as New Covenant believers.
