I agree. I’m terms of a relationship. The roles may be reversed if the “submissive” person is dealing with Terri children, siblings, business partners or just how they go through life. But when it comes to their partner they are that way. And there are levels to it. Some like IDK Christian and Anastasia(Pretty submissive) from Fifty Shade of Grey(Super Dominant...kind of toxic IMHO)(and no not just because of BDSM whatever floats peoples boats) Bella(Submissive) and Edward(Dominant)to a smaller degree and IMHO not as extreme as The Greys. Jon(dominant) and Daenerys(submissive)even though their relationship was pretty poorly written and may not even be called a relationship...I think their ‘roles’ in the relationship are pretty much like many people’s. The woman happens to submissive and the man dominant, but not in an extreme or overbearing way and is a nice balance. But in their live sousing of each other they both have their dominant areas. Fitz(submissive)and Olivis(dominant)I see Fitz as the submissive...but in a subtle way. Once he is the President and all but their relationship is different. Cersei(dominant) and Jamie(submissive)Cersei is pretty dominant...and their relationship became toxic because of it(other factors to)...so there are different levels to dominant-submissive relationships which I believe all are to some degree/extent.

This scene is hands down one of the best! I mean, they acted their faces off. It also showed the reality of Olivia/Fitz romance and took off the rose colored glasses. Mellie was right. When she is talking about there is no Vermont and no future, she speaking on the abortion. She knew that was the future he wanted for them. Children and a family. She also knew telling him would destroy him so she walked away. She has major parental issues so I think the prospect of being a mom is what is scaring her into running. She's already taken on the duties of first lady, something she never wanted. Her life fast tracked when she and Fitz became official, suddenly she's now in Mellie's place. While Mellie was content with being a wife and mother, Olivia I don't think ever will be.

And Olivia's father most likely found a way to make Olivia miscarry her pregnancy. Also the fact that Olivia's father had Fitz's own son killed, it probably make Olivia feel guilty to be pregnant and make Mellie very resentful.

It would have her life that completely changed. Fathers can readily walk out of their children's lives if they want to. Women dont really have that option. Absent father's are a sad truth and people look down on them for it, but a mother who abandons her child is seen as scum. She did not want to be first lady. Having that child would have sealed that fate. That her burden to bear alone and she kept from him to save his heart. He would have understood, but it also would have broken him. The fact that she didnt want his child. The fact that he would have had another, the chance to start over after the death Jerry. She made the right decision for her while sparing the feelings of the man she had loved. Plus Fitz used the secret of the dead jurors (a terrible mistake on Mellie's part) to get what he wanted. Banish Mellie move Liv into the White House. Olivia was just as trapped in that White House as Belle was in the Beast's Castle. It was a manipulation of the grandest scale and Olivia knew it.

I think they loved each other, but for the wrong reasons. Olivia loved that he was unavailable and didn't require any real commitment and Fitz loved that Olivia was an escape from the Presidency. I think that's why Jake scared Olivia so much, he knew exactly what he wanted and told her so. He represented reality and a real future and it terrified her.

There were a lot of truths spoken in the fight. They are the reason why this relationship wouldn't have worked, their pride, ignorance and utter selfishness is the reason why they couldn't be in a real relationship for more than a few months. They didn't take the time to actually get to know each other and learn to compromise and work as a team. They let their feelings and misunderstanding of each other dictate their relationship this entire time, so when the time came for them to finally be a couple for real, they were unprepared and they were going into this with anxiety, hurt feelings, and ignorance. This is why Olivia basically cracked under the pressure. True, Mellie didn't do much better but the difference is that Fitz and Mellie are a great team and they knew each other very well and learned around each other. Olivia and Fitz still needs time and they both need to leave their egos at the door and actually give this relationship a shot or they will continue to fail

I'm so glad they both realized at that moment why Millie was the way she was and how she came to be that way. Olivia understood it better having been thrusted in Millies shoes and not even being able to handle it for a few weeks. Also watching Millie start to become a "big dog" herself & thriving at it. I hope they both knew at that point that if it weren't for Millie taking care of the part of Fitz's life she possessed that Olitz would never had survived as long as it did. Olivia finally got it but Fitz never did. He still had the nerve to look down on Millie.

The point is love isn't enough.We think that love conquers all and gets us through everything but it doesn't. When she was the mistress it was so easy for her to fantasize a future with Fitz. Then he made it to where it can become reality, she panicked. Her parents really messed her up. She keeps Jake around because it's easier to be with Jake. Remember she told Edison that she wanted difficult, painful, exciting, love where that's what she had with Fitz at first. Once he got the divorce,it became simple and easy and that was scary for her.

The difference between Olivia and Mellie is, Mellie stayed and wanted to stay for power and political reasons, Olivia doesn't need nor want that type of life. Clearly the love is still there. That's not what broke them up. What it is is that Olivia said that she didn't know Fitz available. When he was married she was able to leave him so many times but now that he is divorced and his presidency is almost over and the world has pretty much accepted their relationship shit just got real for her. This is so relatable for alot of people. When you're the mistress you are there to fill a void that the wife wasnt filling originally. In this case, Fitz ended up falling in love with her. He didn't want an affair for over 20 years like some people do. He wanted to let Mellie go so she could to allow herself to be happy and free and he can do the same for once. Now that he's single, she can't easily run anymore. Having the abortion was because she felt trapped in that life of first lady and she didn't want that. She wanted to continue to do what she was doing which was being there for her man and have her own life as well. Fitz shouldn't have moved her in. Everything was fine the way things were.
