Yeah, that principal needs to be fired immediately! She victim blames and gaslights the kids getting bullied instead of doing anything about the bullies! I got SO pissed when she had the conversation with the kid coming inside the school where she made she tried to make him shake the hand of his bully and the kid didn’t want to and she followed him and said “I expected more of you! By not shaking his hand you’re just as bad as he is. He was trying to apologize.” And the kid told her “he already apologized and didn’t mean it bc he kept bullying me and I’m just as bad as someone who threatens to beat me up, tells me he is going to break my arm, and that he’s going to kill me every day?” and then she blamed him for being around the bully and he told her he stays away from him but the bully follows him and she said “well can’t you try to get along?” like as if it’s really up to the kid getting harassed, followed, and bullied. Then when she couldn’t care less after seeing the footage of Alex being bullied and everything she said to his parents just pissed me off more! That lady should not be allowed to be in charge of a school!

If people can't help how they are born, then people can't help if they are born with a short temper. This kid seems like a good enough person, but I bet he is very frustrating to be around for long. Adults have the choice of simply not being around people we don't like to deal with, then we just leave. But kids can't leave their class. So then people get mean.

It's bad enough that i had shit on my face that i could not take off and to be made fun of for something that i cannot control is the most cruel thing ever. I actually did fight, quick ones... two kids stole a pop I bought after PE... one pushed the button and the other grabbed the pop... the guy who pushed the pop selection button, I slammed him down, hit him a few times, and then went after the other who took the pop. He literally ran to the principles office. The staff screamed "not in here!" he ran out of the office down the hallway, and finally caught to him, and he handed the pop over. And sort of roughed him a little. I wanted a coke not a Dr Pepper. Remember lamenting to them how sad I was about that. A few days later they gave me money for a coke, and apologized for what they did, and I apologized for beating them up. Bullies are stupid. Particularly these two boneheads: at the time both these kids were smaller in height and frame than me. Jr High or middle school are the worst. High school nobody tends to bully... largely because many who are seniors at some point are literally adults meaning any fighting can become a criminal offense.

My son was bullied in elementary & middle school because he was 'different'. Turns out, he's gay. Now he's 19 yrs old, has lived in Okinawa,Japan, vacationed in Paris, France & is planning a trip to Italy before he returns to the states for college (completely paid for). He was fortunate to overcome the abuse. I stood up for him & was his advocate, only for the things he told me about. I think that when there is a very open dialog between kids & parents & parents fight for their kids & don't just push it under the rug, kids will come through it on the other side. My son is getting back at his bullies now by way of success. He knows the situations of some of his past bullies & they do not have a bright future. Just goes to show ya huh. I am very proud of my son for fighting by way of making a good life for himself. He has a bright future. Bullying needs to stop completely. My son's success is only the same for a select few.

There’s this boy in my grade who always bullies me. He’s thrown rocks at me before, he picks on me every day. He says he’s my friend but he continues to bully me. This documentary has officially moved me. Here’s why: For months he’s been rude to me. It was mostly verbal but sometimes he would lightly shove me or throw a rock. (I never got hurt thank goodness) but today at school, the teacher showed us the documentary for national anti-bullying week. IMMEDIATELY after school, this boy texted me and apologized. We had a good talk about why he doesn’t like me and all that and it turns out something happened in his home life. I never really understood him or knew him well but now I respect him. It’s crazy how much something so small can do. It solved all my problems.

alahatim Bullies do reign supreme. Why do you think it's 2015 and kids are still getting bullied? Because there's no stopping it. It's human nature. It's fucked up but it's true. And it's too broad a topic to paint it all with one stroke. There are some cases where kids who are being bullied physically should fight back, and there are some cases where that wouldn't help. Your black and white thinking of "just fight him, bro!" only goes to show that you have literally no critical thinking skills and you think that everything can be solved with violence, when in the real world that just isn't the case. Also the fact that you're either so insecure or so sad that you have to result to name calling over the internet only goes to show that you're an immature keyboard warrior who doesn't deserve the keystrokes that I'm sending you. I honestly don't even know why I wasted my time replying to someone who called me a "weak sissy liberal pussy" (as if you even know the first thing about me you fuck). So go ahead and reply to this but I'm not gonna read it because this post is now muted.

I got bullied and I'm from the UK, I first kept taking it at a joke, but at the end I got so mad, I started shouting at these bullies. Like bullies, they just look at you in that way like they don't know what your talking about, so I told on them, but when you tell on them they say that your a "Pussy" or a "Baby", but I do not care what they think of me anymore, because if your getting bullied, just remember your better than them! Anyway, the school didn't do anything obviously after I told them about 3 times, so my grandma came in, she was actually shouting at my teachers, so they took the bully out of my History lesson, and then like 4 minutes in the lesson they called me out, when I saw my bully...he was CRYING! I felt so great that I actually beat them. And especially I am a shy and a nervous person, they never thought I would do that. About 2 months after, they started again, this time the teachers gave him 1 last warning otherwise he was going to be suspended or told on to his parents, so now I am friends with him to now, I still don't really like him but I just stay round him because my best friend hangs around with him. Then one day this year when my brother came to high school, he started getting bullied. So then I was telling my friends including my bully and he had the cheek to say "Wow, it must go right round the family!". I was staring at him for a while and I just walked out. - That's my story :)

You may benefit from doing some martial art. I mean, not to become a bullie yourself, but to achieve more self assurance, more confidence. And if you need to defend yourself, you'd be ready (knowing that walking away is the best to do - especially because bullies are often cowards as well and won't pick a fight without being backed up). Keep yourself out of trouble, try to make friends, not enemies. Here goes a nice 'fact': probably that big and strong guy, popular, but dumb as hell, will be delivering pizza to your door when you all grow up. I don't think gates, jobs, zuchemberg, hawking and many others where bullies.

It's sad that all the bus scenes are exactly what middle school buses are like these days. On my bus it's mostly the 7th and 8th boys though. The bus driver said he doesn't want to be mean but it's out of control. Standing, walking up and down in the aisle, climbing, pushing, one per seat even though these kids have friends to sit with (I often have to stand), cursing, talking to the bus driver disrespectfully, fighting, flipping in the aisle (not even joking), sometimes these kids go into the aisle and put one foot on one seat and one foot on the other and they travel back and forth like that while someone's in the seat, when the bus drivers ask the kids to close the windows the curse at the whole bus to get people to close the windows and by the time they get off they're still open, and so much more. Then they finally all get off the bus and me and I friend get off at the second stop alone. When we go to the front to sit the seats are disgusting. And all of the buses are like this.

This movie has been out for 10 years and I’m just discovering it now on Netflix. The whole time I just wanted to get in there and hug Alex and stand up for him. I was bawling a bunch throughout this movie and was like that kid needs someone to listen and defend him. I was so upset with how some of the adults were acting especially the principal. I hope these kids (probably adults now) are doing great and living amazing lives. I’m glad there’s groups like Stand for the Silent. Working with teenagers in a mental health facility, I see this a lot either bullying and/or suicide attempts. Breaks my heart every time knowing these kids are struggling with those thoughts. Your life matters and you’re worth so much more than you think.

this movie made me cry so much, its so sad and horrible for these innocent children to be treated like they are worthless or not feel wanted, nobody should be treated like that even if you think your "joking". you don't know what these kids are going through to make fun & bully them. hundreds of teens and kids take their life away because of the pressure and hurt they go through every single day because of bullying, we need to stop this and schools need to pay more attention to their students and put their school policy for bullying more strict. no child should be bullied or treated like this, treat others the way you want to be treated.

This film was great, I watched it and cried. Only because I've been in that before. I still am....I try my best to make it better for myself. My friends do help me. Sometimes they aren't there for me, like I am for them. I wish they were there more for me...but life is not fair. I don't know what to do anymore. My school had the Stand For The Silent crew come out...and the bullying isn't any better. I thought about hearing of a man who lost his child over bullying would make them learn. Boy was I wrong! I've been called a million names now. I want to confront this issue, but don't know where to start yet. I will figure it out hopefully! Stay strong! God bless everyone. I just watched this documentary a few minutes ago. I respect this boy a lot, for his strength. I have no respect whatsoever for people who bully other boys or girls, just because they look maybe a bit different, maybe looks a bit "nerdy" or because they like things that are maybe a bit unusual, because they have glasses and so on. For me they are very tiny, puny people and need help for their behavior. No one have the right to bully somebody.

cant believe all the comments. It is sad how today's youth behaves. The problem is there are no real actions being taken against the bullies. Schools just sweep it under the rug. I am not going to bully anyone on here with hateful comments, because they know deep in their hearts it is wrong what they do. Also I think they already hate/dislike themselves enough, that's why they do what they do. live and let live. Love and respect one another. that is all, peace.

Being bullied shapes who you are and how you will handle it tells what type of person you are... If you commit suicide you pretty much just role over and give up. If you are truly strong then you'll grow up and handle it in someway... Give me feedback on your experienced it and how you handled it!
@bobbieduck133610 жыл бұрын
I went to a rough school. I don't know if I am legally allowed to say how bad it was, apparently schools lose funding for having certain crimes recurring over and over. So what students I saw come to the office to report what had just happened to them were called liars, whore, get out you look like a hooker. Shaming them into never reporting kept the school from losing funding for the "zero tolerance"money. If a kid tried to report things that happened on the bus they would yell shut up, shut up, shut up, if the kid got quiet they would yell that the school has no legal obligation for what happens on the bus, and you have to take it up with the public bus company.

Well after a lot of complaining by me and my parents we got it from the start of 5th grade to tolerable level. I mean it never went away but it was less like linching. Over time I became stronger as a result and now I won't take shit from nobody, or that's what I like to think, I haven't seen those kind of people for the past 4 years now that I'm 19

Uh, no. There are things, for example, learning disabilities and anxiety disorders, depression, bi-polar disorders, etc. It's not as simple as "if you can't handle it, you're a quitter."
@sabssyllosabrena86077 жыл бұрын
What the actual fuck. If you commit suicide you give up!? If you can't handle it!? What!? Have you ever had depression or anxiety, any mental illnesses.... no.... maybe either way I believe you don't so how could you possibly understand the mental break down that happens when someone thinks or commits suicide. Did ever think to take in factors of what someone could be going through at home let alone with school bullies. What if this kid was being abused by his parents then went to school and was abused by classmates. Constant pain and misery. Being told your worthless 24/7. How do you expect a child let alone an autistic kid or depressed kid to react. There are millions of kids going through this and your telling me bullying shapes who you are. Yeah it shaped me to have anxiety, depression, ptsd. Yeah it sooo did wonders for me. The point is is that it shouldn't happen at all. Giving up to you looks like no more pain and suffering to them. Do you even know how any of the mental illnesses I said even work. If you knew you wouldn't have said what you said here.

One reason I'm in favor of corporal punishment, a family member of mine used on all of her kids, they grew up to be productive members of society, the only one who was spoiled is the fucking sociopath one, he tortures dogs, and he's never had a relationship that worked. The way I see it either your parents straighten you out or society will.
