Twins can actually communicate with each other

I am a twin. I have a twin brother, and we have so many memories of talking to each other about situations that everyone swears we were too young to remember or understand language. Trust me, we definitely could speak to each other. It's more telepathic, and the sounds and verbalization you hear here are more or less emphasizing emotions about the situation they are talking/joking about, lol. It's hard to explain, but it's real. If you are a twin, you know.

It's actually common for babies to talk to (or babble with) each other, twins or not. They are at a stage in their development where they are learning the intonation and patterns of language. They are actually "practicing", and "teaching" each other about conversations. That is why early socialization is so important, because babies help other babies learn to speak. I'm guessing their parents also talk to the boys often, and provide lots of "practice" using language.

@footbottlesiumai Yeah, when either of us is on opposites sides of the room, or when we're in seperate rooms we communicate in squeaks. Once I said I was going to get a sandwhich, and they replied back to me "I want one too!" regularly.

You commenters are funny. They aren’t just mocking their parents. The reason this is special and unusual is that twin babies generally take longer to start talking. Before they speak their first words they oftentimes will come up with their own language only they understand which is believed to be learned by hearing each other’s babbles. They learn to talk by each other’s babbles before they learn to talk from their parents. THAT is the unique and cool part.
