In 1987 I was part of the cast/filmmakers that made The Hanoi Hilton-a film about the prison they talk about in this clip. Among other things, we recreated those incredibly horrific torture scenes and even though they were not real it always bothered me to imagen how Fing bad it was for the men who actually experienced. Additionally, John McCain himself was in our film and I had the honor of meeting and working with him.

I'm only about 50/50 on John McCain's politics, but let me be very clear... It is quite obvious Trump cannot comprehend the level of duty, honor and patriotism... nor can he possibly understand the physical and mental pain and torture that McCain endured for years. That's why I cannot fully support a man who is so short sited... so inexperienced... and as uncompassionate as Trump. This is a major character flaw, and shouts out the lack of basic humanity required to be a leader, might less the leader of our troops and the free world. When Trump said, "POW's are losers. I don't like those who were captured. I prefer those who weren't captured." What kind of man even says this out loud??? At that early moment in his campaign, that's when I lost respect for Donald Trump. And he has never apologized for this. If anything, his jealousy has lead Trump to continue to disrespect McCain, even after his death. That was another opportunity to bring all American's together, but it too was squandered because of Trump's "small man" ego.

Steven Stoffers... I hear you and agree Steven. Are you familiar with the Gulf of Tonkin insident that got us fully into Vietnam? If not, look it up on Google. It was a total sham from those in government (President Johnson) who placed more importance in war profits via our military industrial complex (many Texas arms and weapons mfg) over the lives of our young soldiers! And what a shame.

@bernarddavis1050 Жыл бұрын
There is no need for you to be embarrassed. McCain was NOT tortured in captivity. As the son of an American admiral, he was seen as a a very valuable prisoner, and given especially good treatment . In gratitude, McCain collaborated fully with his captors. He invented the stories of his "torture" after his release to justify his collaboration. He was a man of low moral character who abandoned his wife (who had waited loyally for him during his imprisonment) when she was badly injured in a car accident. Americans are extremely gullible to fall for this lying nonsense.
