My lifelong closest friend took his own life on April 20, 2020. Once, he was a shining light, a rock star, a comedian and the safest place that I could find in this life. We spent 35 years, day in, day out, practically inseparable. Bert and Ernie, Lewis and Clark, Simon and Garfunkel, Abbott and Costello. I knew that he was depressed and had been for some time. I fought like crazy to bring him back to happy but, the harder I pushed, the further away he got. Our last conversation was empty and numb. Words can not express the sorrow, anger and frustration that I still feel. His loss has only galvanized my resolve. To deny this incredible gift that we have been given, to rip yourself away from the love that sustains you, in a selfish moment of pain, that is only temporary. I miss him like crazy and I know that he's still with me. Never underestimate the power of choice. April 20th changed my life forever. I refuse to wear it as a stain. I choose to hold it up, to provide me strength when I am weak. So much unfinished business, plans that will never come to fruition. Today, I honor his memory by choosing to live, for the both of us. Never give up So much is still waiting to be found. It will pass. If you're thinking about giving up, just be. Let time pass, you will return to the light again. You will always come away stronger, smarter, bolder, wiser. Most importantly, don't ever ever Ever Ever Ever Ever Ever Ever Suffer in silence. Reach out and allow yourself to be helped.

ABSOLUTELY! I also like the expression: "You can become lost in the hallways of your mind." 🤯That happened to me a few months ago. I was in a VERY dark place. I drove myself nuts by overthinking😤😳🥺🤔 and extreme stress!! I always took mental health for granted until then. You NEED to take it seriously or at some point it will catch up to you and total chaos may be the result. I found myself doing things and considering doing more things that I never would have thought of doing EVER before. It was horrible. Thank God I got through it!!!

@Marcandme Seldon I think it's GREAT advice. It simply means try not to allow your emotions to override your logic. I made some VERY bad decisions a few months ago simply because I chose to listen to my emotions (FEAR) more than logic. I now regret those decisions. It could have been much worse though if I had continued to do so. Thank God a friend talked me down off a ledge. You can't go through life completely being motivated (in other words "being a slave") to your emotions or your life will be a complete trainwreck. You are oversimplifing the statement. No one said it would be easy. For example, one might feel extreme anger and as a result, want to murder someone. Should you be a "slave to your mind" and actually do it? Obviously not although it is easier said than done sometimes. God knows life isn't easy and neither is controlling yourself, your emotions nor your mind, but you must to a certain extent in order to be happy.
@galaxyglitterlatte4664
@galaxyglitterlatte4664 2 жыл бұрын
@Marcandme Seldon Yes. I agree with waiting for every intense emotion to pass before you act on it! I read somewhere that emotions are like waves in the ocean. They ebb and flow and they will pass. So basically the quote that you said is stupid IS correct. Basically, DON'T be a slave to your emotions!

Natalie. Do not rob yourself of a life because of that. Do not rob yourself of YOUR life because of that. You made vows. In sickness and in health. Sometimes, sickness does become too much. But, we know from research that men leave much more frequently if their wives become ill rather than when the roles are swapped. This does not define you. Do not let it define you. Please get yourself into therapy. If it’s not the right therapist, find another one. Therapy is like dating, keep searching until you find the right one. start by doing one little thing for yourself each day. What makes you feel good and safe and peaceful? For me, it’s cleansing my face and applying moisturiser. When my depression is bad I can go a week without showering. But I make sure morning and night to do that for myself. Then once you have that in your routine, add in something else. Maybe it’s making your bed every morning. A 5 minute bedtime yoga each evening before going to sleep. 10 minutes of journaling a day. Slowly add one thing in at a time, only when you have it established in your routine and it has become second nature. Please. Please don’t fritter your life away. Look at how this man is recovering and surviving. You can do it too. Get help. You deserve it.

Depression hit me at 12 yrs and now I realise it is becoz of my pcos. I was bullied relentlessly. Even the teachers and principal joined in. Being poor and struggling and my parents struggling by themselves without a grandparent to help. I was an easy target coz I helped everyone but never asked for help coz I was raised not to ask help. My parents always wanted me to work hard but never ask for help becoz they didn't. My depression took over coz of a long time illness and I gave up on uni. There was no cure for my long term illness and so my depression got worse coz I felt hopeless. When u are at a dead end ask for help. There is no shame in that.

Jesus christ is your answer. He was born of a Virgin become a man ,was tortured and crucified for our sins so we don't have to go to hell. Died but on the third day rose from the dead. If you confess with your mouth and belive on to Jesus thou shall be saved. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son Jesus that who so ever belives in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16. Cry out to Jesus he is your only hope and answer. Pray to him. He saves all that call upon him. GOd bless.

Yeah. Because it’s all about his looks.... For God’s sake....You’re just one more person thinking that his value is based on superficial things about him.... his looks and his performance. Try looking deeply at the damage you’re doing by saying that. You just managed to invalidate his true importance. There’s nothing ‘poor baby’ about him, he doesn’t need meaningless pity.

I think these happens to alot of sportsmen and women like basketball or the Americans"football" players for a example, I'm guessing their authorities put pressure on them when they're having low performance and these are the results that alot of the athletes go into drugs, suicidal, deep depression etc in order to meet their expectations and expecially men, they find it hard to talk about their problems unlike women, so I hope through this man many more will come out and talk about their straggling.
@halenfriedland9185
@halenfriedland9185 2 жыл бұрын
It’s still so weird to me that the sports industry trades and sells players they don’t want anymore or cause they need funding but most Americans don’t look at that as a form of human trafficking. A lot of these players end up suffering from mental illness or severe injuries that ruin their lives. Some have PTSD too & kill their families or themselves. I just don’t understand why we continue all of this.

Life is hard you must give yourself options and relief valves. Many people have thoughts. My rational thinking is what if you fail and end up disabled making life harder? Then I think.. Instead of doing it, just run away and throw it all away and leave behind all the stress, anxiety, pressure and expectations and live a crazy and risky unhinged life? of course this is not the way it works, it's so hard to unwire ourselves. Consider this... people who survive from suicide and wake up in a pool of blood want to live more than ever.
