I think Ryan O'Neal became a father when he was way too young and immature. Kudos Tatum my Dad died May 22nd and I was estranged from him also for over 25 years and was never told he was dying even though I live in the same city. I know how it hurts to never get your Dad's full approval. Blessings!

Nobel Puker,do not worry so much about your dad. If he was a bad father and put u and your family throw Hell ,what is the point to be friend with him. Think like your father deyid where u were young or u never had a father.There are so many people out there that never knew their father. What is the point of torturing yourself . Your father is who it is and u can't change that. Move forward try to live your Life the best u can and be a better person that he never was.

Farrah's loss was traumatic for Ryan and he loved her deeply. Maybe his kids weren't as supportive as they should have been when he and Farrah were together. He deserved to be happy and kids have a way of interfering in such happiness. Tatum's mother had alcohol issues so maybe addiction was inherited. You can't blame Dad for everything....he helped in giving you and Griffin life. Time to move on and love your Dad.
@AbrahamsAnt Жыл бұрын
I would never say that children don’t owe their parents anything- like some people say. We owe our parents everything and have the moral obligation to be there for them, when they need us, but… if the father neglected his kids for his new partner… he will have to accept the consequences. The “new” women tend to think that the children of their partner is their “past” and that their “new family” should be the center of attention. That is so wrong and hurtful for the kids. If a man has children and you fall in love, you will have to be able to accept, that his children will come first. Before you and your relationship. If you can’t accept that and that the kids will probably resent you at first and will see you as an intruder, who has to earn her place in the family, if you are not ready to invest love, time and effort to create a new family with his kids, then you should find yourself a guy who doesn’t have children from a previous marriage. There is no such thing as a “second life”. You can not start from scratch, if you already have a family. It is complicated and not every parent is able manage a “patchwork family” without hurt and trauma. He should have raised his children first. Ryan failed them and he knows it. Farrah doesn’t seem to have been helpful as well.
@6821hominy7 ай бұрын
Were you aware that Ryan left his two kids, Griffin and Tatum to move in with Farah? They were only 14 and 15 years old and had to live by themselves at that age. He chose Farrah over his kids. Why did Farah not insist those kids come to live with them if she was such a good person? Maybe she asked, but Ryan didn’t want it to happen. Those kids were involved in drugs and parties had no guidance no parent no structure and discipline. They were running wild while he was enjoying his life with Farrah doing what he wanted when he wanted. It’s obvious the outcome of his kids what kind of father he was. Yes, this video shows everything Rosie and they reconciled but they really never did. They went through years of therapy and Ryan could never admit his mistakes and Sod it was kids. Hey I’m sorry you’re right I’ll try to do better. But he never admit he was not the father he should’ve been. Tatum I have not read her book but I’m sure from the reviews it’s an excellent book. She felt her father abandoned her for another woman. She never got over that and that’s how she ended up in the trouble that she using drugs as an adult And losing custody of her children. I can only imagine how those kids felt when he left them for his girlfriend.

I have not read Tatum’s book but I know a little about it. I also know Ryan O’Neill’s history as a father. I agree that he did have children too young and is a selfish individual. Now that he has passed December 8, 2023 read that he had about 25 people at his graveside services and only one child was permitted to show up. That was the child that the sportscaster that didn’t never live with him so he has the best relationship with that son. So it sounds like the other three kids did not approve of their father‘s so called” fathering” were snubbed by Ryan from his grave. I don’t think his kids took that too lightly. Talk about adding more strain to fragile relationship.

If Ryan O'Neal's film career was still as successful as it was in the 70s and 80s, when he was working with Peter Bogdanovich, Stanley Kubrick, Arthur Hiller and co-starring with Streisand and Burt Reynolds, I don't believe for an instant that he would have signed on for a reality series focusing on the damaged relationship with his daughter Tatum. I also believe that O'Neal was confident that "Barry Lyndon" his Kubrick directed film in the mid 70s would have been a greater critical and commercial success; although the film was beautifully shot and his performance was excellent, it was found to be too deliberately paced, with a downbeat ending and failed to connect with audiences. His movie career never recovered.
@loveanimals69818 жыл бұрын
I LOVED "Barry Lyndon," and think that it stands as one of the greatest films ever made. Also, though some people didn't care for the film when it was released (I'm COMPLETELY perplexed by that by the way), it IS highly liked and admired by many today. And It DID receive Best Picture and Best Director Oscar nominations back in '75, winning four Oscars in other categories. So, it was well regarded, at least, in some circles back then, too.
