After much hesitation the Army finally announced that the pilot of the Black Hawk helicopter was Capt. Rebecca Lobach of Durham, N.C. We all have to realize that the role of women in the military should be limited. Certainly they should never be flying aircraft as their mental abilities are limited and they are not suitable as pilots. I state this with experience having been an airline captain with a major airline and have witnessed their poor flying abilities and lack of performance.

Yes the ATC stated the runway number, 33, and asked the helicopter pilot 4 times in a couple different ways whether or not he saw the crj. The chopper pilot repeated every time that he did see the plane, and he also requested visual separation every time he was asked . Visual separation is a term that indicates the pilot is taking responsibility for keeping his craft from crashing into the other one in his air space. And before anyone even says it: the ATC not notifying the CRJ pilot about the helicopter was for multiple valid reasons: 1) the chopper pilot was requesting visual separation over and over, 2) the angle at whichthe helicopter was approaching the CRJ made it impossible for the CRJ pilot - who was rightfully focused on landing his bird on the runway just 2400 ft ahead of him - to have done anything to avoid the crash, and would have liklely resulted in the CRJ crashing into the actual airport, 3) the entire incident took place over the course of 120 SECONDS. There was simply not enough time for anyone to have done anything to prevent this tragic mistake from happening.. Seriously - this was truly an unavoidable tragedy. The blackhawk pilot just didn't see the airliner to his right and and moving out of his field of vision, because he was tracking the plane that was taking off which was slightly up and to the left of him. By the time he turned his head to the right again, they were already colliding with the CRJ. The CRJ pilot never even saw what hit his bird.

The Blackhawk pilot was clearly warned of the regional jet TWO MINUTES before impact, the night was so clear that cameras miles away were able to capture the aircraft course and collision, the Blackhawk was flying 200 feet above the maximum altitude it should have been flying, and we now know that the Blackhawk had veered off course and headed directly towards the jet. And finally, the pilot was a very experienced pilot with approximately 500 hours of flight time. It almost looks like this collision was intentional. Suicide? If not, this was extreme negligence!!! Instead of asking questions, the air traffic controller should have instructed and demanded that the Blackhawk pilot change its flight path; for example, BANK LEFT!!!, BANK RIGHT!!!, PULL UP!!!, or DIVE!!! Had he done so, there might have been a different outcome. Also, with the 500 hours of flight experience this pilot had, she absolutely should have known that they were entering a flightpath corridor dedicated to commercial aircraft landing at that airport. I also find it interesting that the pilot confirmed that she had a visual on an aircraft, but if she mistook which aircraft, the pilot missed the aircraft that was right in front of her. Given the crystal clear night that it was, it makes no sense to me that she could miss a GIANT well-lit aircraft right in front of her. If you look at photos of the aircraft just before the crash, you can clearly and obviously see that the aircraft landing headlights can be seen five miles away. How do you miss that?!!!

It seems to me they were distracted. Why did they have their flood light lit underneath the helicopter? Were they looking at the water?

@@edwardsmith7396 If there are any floodlights that you see, those are the landing headlights of the regional jet. Yes, they look like floodlights, and impossible to miss on a clear night. How do you miss that?!!! The pilot was NOT looking at the water(AT NIGHT) when the altitude they were flying is 400 feet above sea level. BTW, there was a confirmation that they saw the regional jet TWO MINUTES before impact. This is not just pilot error, this has all the hallmarks of intention, and if not, at best is pilot negligence or incompetence. The fact is, with 500 hours of flying time, that she was competent enough to successfully target the regional jet before anybody had a chance to stop it from happening.
