What would you do when you think no one is watching? “What Would You Do?” (WWYD?) explores the varying answers with the help of hidden cameras capturing individuals who have been placed within seemingly everyday situation that quickly go ary. The individuals on this hidden camera show are forced to make tough calls when directly faced with situations of racism, violence, hate crimes, and other hot button cultural issues. Catch John Quinones reporting on these individuals as they make split-second decisions to intervene or mind their own business.
“What Would You Do?” airs Friday nights at 9|8c on ABC.
What Would You Do? (WWYD) is a hidden camera show, hosted by ABC News correspondent John Quinones, in which unknowing bystanders are placed in uncomfortable, and often compromising real world scenarios in public. WWYD’s hidden cameras focus on the average person’s responses and reactions to these issues of social responsibility. Topics such as gay couples being affectionate in public, date rape, racism and racial profiling, interracial couples, abusive parents, drunk driving, and harassment of the homeless are touched upon in this series.
What would YOU do? Would you choose to intervene in these situations? Watch and join the discussion in the comments.

sophia jay I agree. Im white and so are my kids but I would NOT care one bit if my daughter told me she wanted a black doll. Its just a doll and to say no would be teaching my child racism and that isn't right. I didnt even care that she played with her brother's toys when he grew out of playing with them. They're just kids.

When I was little I was a little confused about black dolls. There aren’t many black people in my family and I didn’t grow up with many black people around me, I was really confused, and I used to ask my mom why, she would answer “Because God wanted everyone to be different and special.” I once met a really nice girl, she was black, at first I was a little concerned to be her friend, but I started knowing her and started understanding that everybody is different.

My kids and I are white. When my daughter (age 3) received her first doll house, I made a special point to get black dolls (not every store carried a variety 10 years ago so I had to travel to different stores because I thought it was important to raise her with diversity. Fast forward- my daughter is 15 and she makes a mother proud. She cares about diversity and rights - BLM, women’s rights, etc. I now have 5 year old twin boys. Her toys have been passed down to them - pink/“girly” thing - baby dolls, doll house, my little pony, etc (as well as traditional “boy” toys). Just the other night we were watching a movie. There was one black character who was bald. My 5 year old son said “I like the bald man. He’s nice….” He didn’t describe him as “black” - his description was “bald”. I love that. Love wins ☮️💞

You rarely hear that word in the UK nowadays but i always assumed it was just a way to distinguish those from different parts of Asia. India is in Asia, a large part of Russia is in Asia, Turkey, Israel etc. etc. they are all Asian. I never understood why those who are not born in Asia consider themselves Asian or are classed as such because of their ancestors history. I have relatives born in the UK who would be classed as Asian but they consider themselves as British English due to the fact that they were born here, they don't see themselves as Asian even though their family tree on the other side of the family are descendants from parts of Asia. However, i have met many Americans and they are obsessed with using a continents name to categorise people even if those people are not from that continent simply because of how the person looks and the persons family heritage.

“My daughter only wanted black dolls!” And that’s a bad thing? If she wants white dolls, let her get white dolls! If she wants black dolls, let her get black dolls! If she wants Asian dolls, let her get Asian dolls! People need to take in consideration what the CHILD WANTS, but having a mix of all races is not a bad idea, it teaches them to love all equally. Edit: I see a heated argument in the replies, sorry if what I said offended you. What I was trying to say is that all races should be loved equally. I’m sorry if that did not come across clear. And I see people replying racist things, if your going to be ignorant and rude, please keep that to yourself and delete your replies. Another Edit: The person I’m talking about is GuildBankLooter. He’s replying racist things about black people on my comment and on many other comment. GuildBankLooter i disagree. Kids learn from adults and toys, if they are thaught with only white, they wont understand the concept of race. My sister is a daycareworker, and a kid asked her co-worker if ”she didnt get to shower” since her skin was so dark(wich for me indicates that she had have any contact with other ethnics) Wich no kid really should think. I think we should teach our kids diversity at a young age, itll make them grow and understand the real world better.

That’s one of the things that I love about her being biracial, she knows where she comes from and no family member is better than the other. She loves all of them equally. Her friends are also different shades of the rainbow... I hope she forever feels this way because her father and I certainly do.

hugecoccdaddy First of all, you missed the point of my post. My biggest issue was the fact that she did a complete 180 when she found out she was being watched. That isn't okay, and, honestly, neither is prejudice of any kind. Secondly, I would never request that someone like another race more than their own. I wouldnt request that anyone favor *any* group of people based on color. It isn't okay to dislike, insult,*or favor* anybody based on color. Do you think that believing people should be respectful toward one another, get rid of prejudices/bias, and be capable of sticking to their guns when questioned about statements they made is asking too much? It shouldn't be difficult in the slightest. For the record, again, my original comment was addressing the reason she changed her claim and why, but it isn't *just* about the comments the woman made, or *just* about the way she tried hiding her real mindset when she discovered the cameras; *both* are an issue for me.
@HJ-ju1dn
@HJ-ju1dn 6 жыл бұрын
hugecoccdaddy That's pretty uncalled for, man. Just because I can recognize bias doesnt mean I'm the same color as those this woman is referring to. I myself am not being biased right now, and I've been pretty relaxed this entire time. Calling this woman a coward and a racist isn't the same as throwing a hissy fit. Do you know what a real hissy fit looks like? This isn't it at all. Favoring anyone, including yourself, soully based on race isn't okay. Favoritism isn't right, and if I want to comment on someone's behavior, I will.

When I was a little girl in the late 70's, I wanted a black Barbie doll. When I picked her out in the store, my grandmother asked my mom, "Do you know what she's getting?" My mom thought my grandma was being a pain, & let me get the black Barbie doll! Thanks mom!

I always wanted a black plush, so my mother knitted me one. I didn't play parents and dolls, but instead I played superheroes. She made him a costume, and I loved playing with him. It is hard even today I think to find a black doll in Estonia, where I grew up in.

@Kyaramerutī your welcome, I didn't want to offend anyone, you've got to do something to me to get on my bad side, and that doesn't include any race, just individuals, but to be honest I'm very pissed at the CCP and the Chinese in China, not Asian Americans or Chinese Americans here, also take care, stay safe
