My goofy 13-year-old self actually had a crush on her from watching the show. So much so that she's the only one I remember at all. Weird déjà vu, just watching this.

When I first saw "American Bandstand" as a little boy in the 1970's, the set featured in this video was the one in use! I've always loved the 1974 through 1978 "AB" set, especially the logo with the white chasing lights! I really miss this terrific program, and I'm sure that today's kids would enjoy it if it was still running!

Michael Williams I totally agree the 1974 through 1978 American Bandstand set was awesome. Thanks for the excellent comment Michael.

You're very welcome! "AB" will always have a great beat, and I can dance to it!

Michael Williams Yeah, imagine if American Bandstand was still on the air today. Most likely, you'd be seeing artists such as Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Charlie Puth, Lorde, Halsey, Maroon 5, One Direction, and the list goes on.

This is the set that I got to know AB and Dick Clark. This was so 1970s. I was a child of the 1970s, so my memory was limited. I think Maxine Nightingales 1976 hit " Right Back Where We Stared From." I remember that performance.

Hi, thanks for sharing. You've made my Sunday. If you're able to, will you please post the entire episodes to each of these clips. Though it was a little before my time, I love the '74 through '78 era. I used to watch the reruns that VH1 used to air, but they were chopped down to half hour episodes. I've always wanted to see the full hour. I remember being impressed with Peaches Johnson and her style of dancing. Thanks again.

Gina Sprague and her partner Clint almost won the 1977 American Bandstand Dance Contest that summer. They selected to danced to Paul Jabara's uptempo disco classic "Dance' . Once the dance contest was over in September 1977, Gina continued to dance on AB for another year or so. Then she began appearing on at least 3 other TV dance shows (that shall remain nameless, lol) Watching this video, brings back memories of the profound influence Bandstand had on pop culture.

Do you know if the dancers on Bandstand ever danced to Player's "Baby Come Back," Elton John's "Little Jeannie" or Air Supply's "Lost in Love?"
@nymet24546 жыл бұрын
To the best of my recollection, they did not danced to any those records.

Justin C I would concur with my friend nymet2454. I’ve not viewed any American Bandstand footage of those 3 songs. Although a couple of them would be great slow dancing tunes for the show. Great question!

The great Gina Sprague! I love how less inhibited she got as the years went by. I remember her from "another dance show," too (shoutout to nymet2454 haha) - and she was on said show around the same time of these episodes. (Clint wasn't, though. Eric Redd was her partner there.) She later appeared on this show again in '82 and '83! three other things -- 1) wild to see a sliver of "doctor Love" by First Choice being used. Always wondered if Bandstand ever used that since the other show strangely did not. 2) With his pictures hanging, was that some sort of an Elvis tribute [ at 5:16 ]? 3) "Heaven on The 7th Floor!" has been a record that ive been looking for over 12 years. I only heard a snippet and never the hook, so thank you ABDancers!

nickfreshalive Great question; the clip with the Elvis pictures was from the tribute episode that aired on 10/22/1977. It was definitely a unique one where they only played his music the entire time. Happy to hear you enjoyed the Paul Nicholas song. I think it’s one of Gina’s best dance clips in the montage. The great Ms. Sprague will have a Part 2 video appear on the channel very soon. Thanks for another excellent comment.

"doctor Love : was played on Bandstand during a disco themed show. I think Eric Redd's partner on that other show was Daphne, but not sure.
@nickfreshalive7 жыл бұрын
It was Daphne usually, yep. lol (Actually, now that I recall, Bobcat and Daphne danced together first while Eric danced with various women (including Gina), then Eric and Daphne the next season)
