I Had a AAA after going into the Hospital for loss of blood Diverticulosis I think it is called. Ambulance to hospital, Emergency room examination with me fainting off and on throughout, and then Helicopter emergency to Auckland Hospital about 30 mins by air. Across a roof landing and into BRIGHT lights and then nothing until I woke some hours or days later with tubes and needles seemingly everywhere. This all happened 1st August 2013 and I'm finally y got a date for a TURP operation to have my prostate "rebored" and my my catheter taken out. What a relief that will be. Such a good explaining video Ninja Nerd , my thanks to you. I didn't have the courage to look it all up previously, but now I'm glad to see it so well explained so again my thanks to you.

Thank you young lady for the valuable information that you have provided. As of 3 years ago July 15th of 2020. I had this excruciating pain in my right lower abdominal belly. Which I thought my appendix had ruptured. I had called for an ambulance the ambulance drove me over 70 miles to the nearest hospital. I don't remember the ride from where I was at to the hospital after I called. When I woke up all I remember is laying in a bed with tubes and hoses coming out of me. I had found out I had a triple AAA repair. I was told that it drew to 9.6 cm and when they opened me up through the belly it had ruptured. I was also told that I was on the operating table for 12 hours and 8 pints of blood back in me. One thing about it is I guess I got to sleep for a month for I woke up find out what happened. My right kidney was pushed up out of place and they had to cut it and reposition it. My right leg is swollen so big that they had to get the circulation back into it. Well I guess I've said enough. I'm glad I'm still here after 3 years. If anybody is reading this I know it's hard to do but stop smoking. I smoked for 30 years and as result of it it's what happened to me. No more smoking for me. Again thank you very much for all you do

Dang glad mine was stented before it could pop. Slow down and stop smoking. An oxiometer on a finger can show smokers their O2 level drop as they puff.

@@ronpflugrath2712 all believe me I've stopped the smoking. I can't even really be around anybody that smokes anymore cuz I can't stand the smell. My oxygen level during the day is still at 97-98 percent and at night it drops a little bit. Glad you're still with us too

Thank you for sharing your story! Glad you are still here. Smoking truly is such a big problem in society, and very normalized. I don’t smoke anymore but an AAA is still a concern of mine. But, I am also a hypochondriac, so it might be in my head. 😅

Very informative. I was 63 when it was discovered by chance that I had a AAA. I am female with atherosclerosis, low to normal BP, Familial High cholesterol. What a shock. My AAA has grown to 5.5cm & I am expecting a repair any day now. Ps I am now 70 & my health service has thankfully been monitoring my AAA. But in the UK female patients are not routinely tested for this. But males are. I think I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time & will be looking forward to a healthier future. Fingers crossed. ❤️

Wow, I am surprised it’s not checked for women as much. As a woman and a bit of a hypochondriac I would prefer if it was tested equally! Anyhow. Good luck on your repair! I hope it’s an easy recovery for you.

Very informative - I got a call from my father's doctor about 10 years back to say that he had a AAA and that my grandfather had died of a AAA and that I should go "get checked". I did and bugger me dead, I had a AAA. Dad has since passed away from cancer and my AAA has been monitored for the last 10 years. I have been very active all my life, never smoked and eaten well [good diet]. It appears I have a "flap" - the aorta has delaminated and blood is getting between the two layers of the aorta [about 50mm currently]. Recently I have noticed some strong pulsing on occasions and I have held my breath! But the pulsing didn't last too long and apparently didn't lead to anything else. I'm certainly very aware of the situation and my mortality - just had a quadruple bypass and i'm 73 - past my three score and ten.

Great, informative video….I found out I had/still have a 6.9 cm AAA a bit over two years ago. I had the EDVR repair in Aug 21. The procedure was a breeze but I still continue to have a type 2 endoseal leak which as I understand it happens to 40% of us with this repair. At my last CT scan in April the doc said while the aneurysm hasn’t grown it also hasn’t decreased in size and they thought the leak needs to be dealt with. Of course, after consultation with the vascular conference people he was going to get back to me with a plan if they felt something could be done. So four months later haven’t heard back so here I sit….I guess I’ll have to press him for some explanation next April for my annual CT scan followup…..if I’m still on the green side of the grass. Enjoyed your video and subscribed. Thank you. Edit: I also developed a new appreciation for Nurses and PA’s during my brief hospital stay….it was an amazing experience post-op.

Last month I underwent a double AAA repair using stents. It all went smoothly and the outcome was perfect nitinol stents we placed in position through insertion through my femoral arteries band a fairly new trocar was used to insert the tubes into both arteries that contained a new style clip that closes the hole without sutures. I never had any symptoms with these Aneurysm s and they were found when I had a chest Xray done for other reasons. This nurse is giving a perfect discussion about this killer malady.

Very Informative👍! Will be having Vascular Aortic Repair or EVAR. Will have 2 small incisis in both groins & Y catheter & wires. Be in I.C.U. 3+ days & regular room 6 to 10 days. Had Cat Scans w/Dye & Stress Test by Injection radiation & gama & my Heart Is Great & Arteries. Did not want anything wrong with the Heart & Arteries before doing EVAR surgery. That would be put'n the cart before the horse! Smoked🚬51+ years & quiet 8 years ago & went to JUUL & 3 days later no coughing, buggers went dark to white & never felt better. My Vascular Surgeon is great & stated my Vape would not be an issue. 3+ years ago KETO, lost 207 pounds in 2 years. Flying solo & driving 3 hours to have surgery & driving home.
