It’d be nice to see how the place has developed. The last update for the check dams was 8-9 years ago. Something tells me they have made significant progress since then. It would be nice to see how things have developed.

I have been waiting a long time for an update as well. Maybe you can set up a patreon page or something similar where we can give money for more movies about the Al Baydha projects progress?

Its incredible that there hasnt been any rain in two years! I cant imagine how difficult it is to restore an ecosystem like that. Its too bad that us humans can be so greedy sometimes.

There's a video of a not so old guy, maybe in his 40's. On the Sahel. While speaking to the camera. He unveil that when he was a kid he and his brother used to swim in there!! Worth mention that only rocks and dust are to be seen! Yeah! I guess we pretty much mess it all. :-( Wish I could find the link.

In Australia we are cutting down trees like there is no tomorrow, perhaps we should send our tree cutters to Al Baydha for a few weeks and have this gentleman talk to them.

Al Baydha project location: 21°03'05.44" N 39°54'10.87" E - it is extremely hard to find without these exact coordinates. You can follow the site's progress using Google Earth, and witness the transformation of what was a wasteland.

Drought, dust and barren land is caused by cutting trees. Human being will never comprehend the importance of trees.

I've just been reminded of your videos by Matt Powers The Permaculture student. I remember feeling frustrated with the sudden lack of videos. Is there anything to report on your efforts? I truly hope your endeavours were fruitful, we could do with some hope. Gonna paste this question under my comment if you don't mind: I'm looking for tree-species that make the ground moist and keep it moist, trees that thrive in periodic droughts and give shade to other humidity binding plants without creating a fire hazard with dry leafs; anyone skipping by who knows their stuff, please lemme know. The problem with looking for drought resistant trees on KZbin, they never show you the forest floor, only filming up. Gonna paste this under a lot of videos.

Neal you need to stop water run off and make sure the water soaks into the ground especially with all the flooding in Saudi Arabia. Maybe permaculture or the Zai planting techniques. But please plant some trees don't give up.

Got rainfall two days ago for the first time since April 2017, and first real rain since we cut irrigation in 2016. It's a huge test for our system, and we'll see how well it has all survived. Cutting the irrigation was a big risk, but necessary to make sure that we are establishign both an agriculture and an ecology.
