@danw918 I have seen before when the police officers would speak to the troopers to see if they wanted any intervention. A few wanted, and then the police officer concerned would speak to the rude tourists. However, there were a few police officers who would speak to the tourists and told them to show respect, saying that the troopers were not allowed to speak. Like you said, the troopers are trained soldiers and should not need to deal with rude tourists. It is about respect and a few police officers told tourists that too.
