That horse didn't like the smells in the box for one thing. . I've seen it numerous times, especially when a horse pees in there. They're animals, and they'll react to odors just like humans. But he just wasn't in the mood today. Tantrum? Something was wrong. His head was down, his tongue was out. Who knows. Well done to the trooper and the guard for doing their best with him.

I think its more the people around upsetting the horses as this is what they are trained to do its the same with all animals if there is to many people theybwill run and hide and the horses if u look at thier ears you can tell the noise is getting to them

Yes the horse can’t learn that if it balks it is in charge and can do whatever it wants. However there is a point where one has to do something different. More of the same is not effective is it ?
