Hi! Could you share all the things you suggest buying for abeka? Just wondering what all is neccessary
@ashleyvickers69043 жыл бұрын
Yes I have another video I believe. I think I have quite a few. I’ll check later. But I like the handbook for reading 17.00 on their website. And I suggest their flash cards or make your own. The blends. The clue words. I also like their blend book. 7.00 on their website. I like their workbooks a lot.

I know this is an older comment, but Incase it helps you or someone else, I wanted to offer that i also highly recommend The HandBook For Reading (I got mine second hand for $4 at a consignment store), and in the back of this book is the entire list of special sounds which I copied myself on note cards. So I saved a ton just by doing that. We like to keep it budget friendly, open and go, and simple.

Abeka seems more in depth with phonics than cle. I have both and I am so conflicted. My daughter wants to use both. Cle to me though had wayyy more paper work to do for their ages.

I found a CLE new kits used for a decent price but it didn't have the card. How important are they?( I have many other basic phonics cards)

I’m assuming your talking about the phonics cards? It’s not the end of the world. That’s an optional add on. Can be helpful but to each their own. Just compare everything to the website in pricing to see if it works for you.

Careful not to add an “ah/uh” at the end of sounds/blends.

ikr its making me cringe everytime, but besides that this was very helpful! I bought the learning to read from CLE but I find that so much of the workbook pages are just busywork.

Hi, which did you decide on for 1st grade, CLE or Abeka?
@lifewithashleynoah98933 жыл бұрын
We actually have both. But I don’t do Abeka the normal way with the lesson planners. I have it but I don’t teach from it where it’s so time consuming

@@lifewithashleynoah9893 I am curious as to have you incorporate both. I actually have Abeka and CLE as well. I like what I am seeing in both and am having a hard time deciding which one to use. I would love to hear how you incorporate both.

@@burkhousehold8880 I dont like to do Abeka lesson plans. They make my eyes glaze over. We just do the page for abeka, and cle we are more likely to break out the teachers guide. With Abeka we go through their grade 1 books, the handbook for reading, and flashcards. This all comes in handy. I know with the workook pages and lesson plans with Abeka, you have it all organized where you are learning the same concepts with all of the books lines up at the same time with similar content, but I dont care. I just try to keep even with the lesson numbers for the workbook pages for abeka, and you can tell what they are teaching from the handbook for reading because its like A-Z. Very easy. So you see from the workbook pages what phonics chart they are on, and the words are the same from the workbook pages, and the handbook for reading. So you can go over the chart from handbook for reading book. The readers for grade 1 also indicate what phonics charts they will be learning about in that book so its all easy

@@lifewithashleynoah9893 Did I understand correctly? You follow the CLE cirriculum but use Abeka worksheets to the school day? Can you give me more detail on that?
@lifewithashleynoah98932 жыл бұрын
@@Foltyn21 when we first started we did work sheets from Abeka only. No lesson planners. No teachers guides. Nothing. With Audrey we are currently all over the place. She does both. She needed more time in certain areas. I’m now trying to merge her and my son together if possible. There is a 1.5 year difference so I’m trying to catch them up to each other on reading levels if possible. We fly through the Abeka worksheets when we want to. But we did the Cle with teachers guides here and there. Also we do the Abeka readers. I just bought Gabriel grade 1 Abeka for convenience and because he’s doing really well with it. Audrey would watch some videos here and there as needed. We bought the random hours from Abeka.
