Aberlour 18 REVIEW: BEST of the CORE RANGE?

We've got an 18 year old single malt from the Aberlour distillery in Speyside today. I'll taste it and give you my thoughts. Cheers!

I just found this for $140 before tax at a small Mom n Pop shop. I’ll be heading there tomorrow to get it. Seems interesting enough. Thanks for the super honest and thorough review.

Great review. I feel the same about 40% whiskies. Pretty much never buy them for myself. I only really ever have them as a backup bottle in case I get the chance to introduce someone who hasn’t had much whisky yet.

You just saved me from being taken in By this BS 50cl manipulation. Wtf I was gonna head out to a liquor store tonight. Just checked out a review just to make sure and this totally changed my mind. And 43% was dubious already. Jesus who knew it was 50cl! Had a good laugh

Well I should be clear, there are bottles out there at 700ml. The 500ml bottle was around for a while, but it's not the standard size for this release, so you might want to check with your shop to see what they've got. Cheers! 🥃

@@Gwhisky thanks for the reply. Yup it's 50cl. The store got pictures up online. Got petrified. About one third of the juice is gone and the audacity to continue with the same price. Just beyonds me man.

Nice video. Not one I'll be buying I have to say. Like you, I'm pretty much set on avoiding anything under 46% these days. Deanston 18 and AnCnoc 18 would be a couple of other 18 year olds I'd like to hear your thoughts on.

I think the Distiller hear you on the "light-ness" thang-ee .... : the 2023 "new" 18 double sherry Aberdour has the oooomph of 25-30 Scotch !

Thanks for pointing out that it's only 500ml. I was considering buying it, assuming it was the standard size. But for the price they want in my area, forget it. I don't care how good it is.

Well it seems the newer bottling with the modern label are back to 700ml. That being said, it's not my favourite 18 yr old and I think there are better 18 yr old options out there.

Bunnahabhain 18, Glenlivet 18 (old version at 43%), Glendronach 18, Ledaig 18, Bowmore 18 Deep & Complex. There are plenty of better options!

Way better than Glen Livet for me the Abunadh and 18 are simply brilliant. The Abunadh needs a drop of water. The 18 imo drinks more full and coats way more than a 43%er likely as its a double cask. Also just bc I was curious - forvo.com/word/a%27bunadh/ For me there's not a better 18 yr old option at the price so I disagree with the reivew although its well thought out. The A'bunadh has a permanent place in my cabinet and at its price I think its one everyone should own.

I think the A'bunadh (given up on trying to pronounce it) is excellent value and great bang for buck. I like the 18, but not as much as you do. I'd rather have the Glenlivet 18 personally (the old one at 43%, not the new one at 40%). There are HUGE variations in whisky prices depending on location. Where I live the Aberlour 18 is about USD $30 more and the bottle has 200ml less liquid in it. I do like Aberlour 18, but I'm not convinced that it's a good value buy in my region. Review the springbank 10. My total fav, I like it more than the 12 or 15 cause of that super strong gummy bear finish

Doing yourself a disservice, missing out on Eradour 10 & anCnoc 12, which will both surprise you at 40%. This is coming from someone that’s a peathead & enjoys high/barrel proof bourbons.

Never had the Edradour 10. Curious about it, it's an excellent brand. I've had mixed success with AnCnoc 12 over the years.
