As a student I studied 12 years in Sri Sathya Sai Baba ashram and witnessed many divine incidents and listened to Baba's discourses on Vedantas, upanishads, advaita, dwaita philosophies, bhagawat Geeta etc. One day, a student asked Baba, how many years back did the Mahabharata and the Ramayana took place. Baba's reply defied all known dates back then, but I remembered it and knew Baba only speaks the truth always. He replied, "the Mahabharata took place 7500 years back, and the Ramayana took place 20,000 years back." We need to be curious about our country, because first we belong there. Knowing more about the real history will only give us more confidence and pride in ourself and once that happens we will start advancing more and more.
