Mealy bug attack in cotton crop 2020 in Pakistan
Mealy bug is a sucking pest in cotton crop. It sucks sap from cotton leaves, soft twigs, buds and bolls. It weakens the plants and ultimately plant die. Its attack occurs usually near water channels and roadside in the form of patches. It attacks in summer when temperature exceeds 35 degree centigrade. Its host plants are Okra, Tomato, Brinjil etc and many weeds.
Identification: Male with wings and female without wings. Female is covered with white powder which lays eggs 150-200 and these eggs hatches in a week in summer.
Control: Imidacloprid @ 50 gram per handsack sprayer machine
Profinophos @ 120 ml per handsack sprayer machine
Boltan (Mixture of Gama cyhalothrin) @ 80 ml per handsack sprayer machine
