Sometimes a new series falls flat on it's face, the writing is bad, the story is weak, the acting is horrible and the the actors are wrong for the series. Many of died on the vine very fast. The ABILENE series sample pilot is "R I V E T I N G". The story is begging for more, more more. The acting is a GEM, that reminds me of Heartland series. The choice of Actors and Actresses is spot on, professional, and very believable. Did a search online looking for when this series is coming out. My wife and I just "LOVE LOVE LOVE " this pilot. We want More!

So, I'm ready for the next episode. I enjoy the fact that it's not a "big name" thing and that there's a chance to get to know not only new characters but also new people. You've got a great setup for a great drama series. Not so sure about the brooding brother string; he's a little over the top for, basically, no reason. But the others? Nice. I'm hoping that the small town roots stays true to small town and doesn't get too big for itself. Small town gossips and small town dynamics; be sure to have a "Dufur Party" - that's where a few people who are driving the opposite direction but need to talk to one another. They just stop in the street, put it in park, and have their conversation. (Origins of this is Dufur, Oregon, USA - population ~500.) But examine the small towns because they're quite remarkable; you're not a stranger and you're not allowed to be alone. Everyone looks after one another and, like your show, they'll even bend the rules to help protect those they think are "good people." Well done!

Agree with the overly brooding brother being over the top. Yes, depression can make people snippy and self- centered, but his sinister persecution of Abbie is a little much and not typical for grieving depression. The sibling thing is too juvenile for this age level and sounds like middle to high school level bickering. Obviously, this is the prodigal son story but not quite: here the prodigal son is a do-gooder not a wastrel, and the dutiful son is caustic and resentful of all. Curiously, the dutiful son here doesn’t express resentment towards the father, which is a missing Biblical component worthy of exploration.
