"Paint It, Black” by The Rolling Stones
Producer: Andrew Loog Oldham
Composers: Mick Jagger and Keith Richards
Lyricists: Mick Jagger and Keith Richards
Associated Performers: Mick Jagger, Brian Jones, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman
Lyrics:
I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
I see a line of cars and they're all painted black
With flowers and my love both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a new born baby it just happens every day
I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door, I must have it painted black
Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts
It's not easy facin' up when your whole world is black
No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough into the settin' sun
My love will laugh with me before the mornin' comes
I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
I wanna see your face, painted black
Black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the sun flying high in the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black
Yeah!
“Paint It, Black (Official Lyric Video)”

People usually fail to understand just how early the Rolling Stones were. This song came out in the 60's! Can you imagine how it felt to hear a song like this in a decade when people were still listening to Elvis?

This song means a lot to us Vietnam veterans. A lot of us came back home from the war with serious physical and mental disabilities. Post traumatic stress disorder can cause a veteran to feel overwhelmed by life, lonely, depressed and isolated from other people. Please remember us on Memorial Day Weekend this year, and say a prayer that our lives will still matter and we can make a difference in the world. 😢😢

Still pray and think about all you vets out there, every day! I'm just a few years younger and didn't get sent over there. Sometimes I'm just over come with grief that you, older, class men had to go but we were spared. I all too well recall the grief you guys put up with upon returning. Those very same draft dodging A holes, that did all the Hippie protesting, are now the hateful politicians we now have to endure.
