It’s really pricey to set up at big shows. Hard to make money when you pay $450 -700 to set up and 2-3 days at a hotel. Plus the grind of doing that for 3 days straight is pretty brutal. I’ve been sticking to smaller local shows due to low overhead.

Need more videos like this in the hobby. You’re not being negative. I see first hand at shows these kids idolize these guys and I see it they have it in their head they are just going to grow up and flip cards/ be a dealer As a life long collector I don’t see how you make a living at this unless you have a lot of money to play with and are just really really aggressive . At any rate it would be a lot of hard work I flipped cell phones full time for a few years and was always stressing out about leads and having phones sitting around and no cash to buy more so I couldn’t make more money until I sold what I had type of thing On top of the fact, I didn’t have benefits like you speak of Also, another thing people don’t talk about is taxes. Yes, you can use tax write offs, but what does it look like when you go to buy a house? You have to show income. So if you’re writing off everything and not paying taxes nobody’s going to loan you money. if you decide to pay taxes, and you are a single guy. Your tax rate is huge. to show a decent income you’re going to have to pay a big chunk of money in taxes. I could go on and on . I’m not being negative. I lived that life . There’s so many things you have to worry about that’s the guy with a stable 9-5 doesn’t. I could go on and on

Always looked at full-time card flippers as simply drifters in society. We’ll see how that plays out long term when it comes to insurance, benefits, investments, and retirement.

What you are asking, or suggesting is ultimately moot. "Making a Living" in regards to anything is entirely subjective to each person. What is important, or imperative, or applicable to one person, will not be for another. 100 people will have 100 different needs, wants, views, perspectives, and opinions, based on their own perecived reality at this station in their lives. Every single video we watch-it could be a video about ANYTHING- we will always find things that that Tuber needed to improve on or address or change, or add etc... But... it's their video, their channel, and hence, they can put out anything they want. In the end, people are gonna employ common sense, in that if someone is truly looking at how to make a Living fliiping cards, I am quite certain that person will be watching tons of videos on the subject and pick out bits and pieces that can apply to them.

That is why a clearly state that everyone's definition of "making a living" could be different. You are also assuming that the younger demographic of viewers that absorb the content can decipher what is real and what is not. Many ppl take what they see at face value

Thx for living the dream and sharing. Great video and questions. I’ve always wondered the same about sports card hustlers. How about asking Dustin these same questions. It appears he is a full time influencer with 4 kids and a wife. He doesn’t show many flips so I assume he is either “living with his parents” or making a lot of money influencing. How many trips does Dustin take that others pay for? I assume fanatics paid for him to go to NYC. Do you pay Dustin to be on off centered? What is Dustin not disclosing? 😊 I’d love to see Dustin more transparency. Who cuts Dustin’s lawn? 🧐

@@TheCardHunter no need for a video I can answer it here. I don't get paid to go to shows, if I did I would disclose like I do with sponsors. Fanatics (or anyone else) didn't pay me to go to NYC. Steve doesn't pay me to be on Off Centered, but come to think of it, I need to talk to him about that 😂 Oh and I cut my own lawn, sometimes my 18 year old son cuts it though and he usually does the weed eating.

Repackers are paying 100% of comps. So, the average collector has to pay over 100% of comps to buy cards and has to pay 13% of fees on the bay plus shipping plus taxes. Plus travel to shows plus meals plus hotels. No wonder they call it a grind…..
