ABLEIST Security Guard at the Public Library *With Bodycam* | Real Footage of Autism Discrimination

Witness the shocking moment when an ABLEIST security guard discriminates against an individual with autism outside a public library. This must-watch viral video (future viral), captured with real bodycam footage, exposes the harsh realities of ableism and discrimination faced by those with Autism (who never asked for Autism, FYI). This incident occurred at the Donald Dungan Branch OC Library in Costa Mesa, adjacent to Lions Park, on July 3, 2024. This was extraordinarily hurtful, not being able to eat hardly anything until after midnight, especially since I had many similar experiences of discrimination for over 20 years...and they never seem to end despite all that I do in the news media, with my books, and on social media (having over 1 million followers on Instagram...okay, not 8 billion, I know, and that's certainly not a lot, relative to thousands of other people who have tens of millions of followers) - not to mention my academics (insofar as a Master's) and my job that has made a difference to 1000s of students the past three years (just read my 2nd book). But I'm NEVER giving up. I will ALWAYS persevere and continue with PR and ads, even if I have to spend a trillion dollars to reach 8 billion people, lest this happens again to anybody (not just me).

If you have Autism, don't allow this label to knock you down to the ground! I never allowed Asperger's to have such a prerogative and here I am today (and will be in the future). If I can stick to this life and have hope that I have a purpose, you can too! I never allowed my Autism to have the prerogative to slow me down, insofar of getting my first book published at the age of 23 and an Associate's in Chemistry. I enjoy juggling for children at schools, as well as playing piano for the senior citizens.
I will not stop doing what I'm passionate of doing, and that is to give back and make sure that Every person - including Every child - in this country and in this world feel belonging, accepted, and acknowledge that they have a purpose in this life and a reason to live!

Yes, I am not against that. Something you missed is that I have Autism and I HAVE a Master's in Education. I have a good rapport with almost 30 schools in my district and the school board. You missed the fact that those students came up to me; not the other way around. However, I can't get mad at the security guard for misconstruing what is obvious: a friendly conversation with not only 3 children, but with an adult. I can't get too mad at him for the first round of questioning, but the second (when it was obvious that he didn't believe I was a teacher/tutor) was wrong. In fact, the mother of the two whom I was tutoring that day said that she's taking this video to the police, because she agrees how wrong and strange it was. Something else you missed @jhor729, is that there were 100s of people there. Why'd he single me out? Clearly, my strange looks (tall, thin, and all) made him equate me to being an alien instead of the fact that I just have Autism. I WILL keep exposing such ableism in hopes to eradicate it. Are we going to eradicate it completely? No. But as long as I'm living, I'm doing my best to do my God-given calling to be a good teacher and an advocate for disabilities worldwide. Thank you for these videos. My grandson is on the spectrum as I probably am along with my son, his father. However, my grandson is also hearing impaired and I am concerned with these potential situations that might happen in public. We are Native and sometimes get harassed over things other people usually do not. I've also been an assistant teacher and worked with literacy programs at my kids schools and the local community college and running into people who recognize you is completely normal. Bullying people in public because that security guard wants to flex on someone is never okay. He is really morelike an INSECURITY guard. Sorry that happened to you.

Hi. No problem. I try to post positive videos, but there have been a few times over the years where I had to expose such things. Like I said, I feel that if I don't at least take a stand, then it's just going to continue. I watch so many other KZbin videos from across the country where this stuff (if not worse) still happens. Recently, there was an Autistic who had a meltdown and died in police custody. I'm sure there's more to the story than my first glance, but I skimmed through that security video and it made me upset. I just hope there's more thorough training for police and security guards soon about people with physical or neurodevelopmental disabilities, or being impaired in some way.

I know, right? Just to come back for more harassment and conclusion-jumping. This was when he exposed himself as the ableist he is, confirming that he was indeed viewing me as somebody I was not, despite him witnessing an actual, real friendly conversation with me and that group. Alas, I don't think he saw me actually tutor those two students for the following two hours. I'm actually going back over there in 45 minutes to tutor another student, so I'm eager to see if I'll run into him again.

Going to say this as a second possibility. I think this security guard has never seen you before, as he was asking questions like “Where are you from, what’s ur ages, and your name, etc” basically confirming who you are. He was a nice gentleman wasn’t rude or anything but still don’t see a reason why return a second time.

Yes, I believe he followed protocol and again, he seemed a bit nice in that he called me by my first name, but as you said, I cannot fathom why he returned and talked to me like that. I understand the first line of questioning, but since I gave him all the truthful answers (and that I was there waiting to tutor a couple of students), I don't know why he didn't believe that and came back with such an insinuation about me. _That's_ what's bothering me; not so much the first encounter. And one last thing: Why was it me? I'm not saying it should've been somebody else, but still, why was he targeting me like that when there were literally a hundred or more people on the entire property? (Anyway, that's a rhetorical question I just had to type out. Thanks for watching and your comment.)
