You can add one choke group per pad on the basic drum rack, FYI. And if you hit the shift button twice, it locks the fine tune mode so you don’t need a finger on the shift button. Then you can the slicing knob with your right hand.

Some points: - double tap shift to lock the shift button on - there is a lazy chop option, to get your manual chops on the pads in the rack - you could even parameter lock the sample start point of the sample, to have one pad play different parts on the sample on every step of the sequencer - there is an option for one choke group per drum rack, it’s in the filter menu

Double tap shift helps it’s true Lazy chop is kinda there, but through trample and onto a separate track… typical workaround for now Parameter lock yes, however I don’t see it a useful feature for me or similar but makers styles Yes, there actually is, shift + enter

I mean ableton move IS a sampler because it DOES sample. And you even offer a SAMPLE Pack for move that you say “is NOT a sampler”. I’ve been a boom bap beat maker for 30 years and even though this workflow is different than others I find this not only sufficient but also inspiring when it comes to beat making. It’s just a different workflow. However I appreciate your perspective and respect your opinion despite the inaccurate title. I do see how for certain people who prefer a certain workflow this device could be annoying. One thing that I don’t love about it is resampling seems a little awkward but overall I’ve had fun with this as a boom bap tool. Either way I hope it proves useful for you and that updates you would like to see get introduced. Thanks for your thoughts on it! Also you got a new subscriber cause that beat was super dope!!!

Great review! I’ve had Move for about a month, and find myself frustrated by a lot of the decisions and weird almost bugs that still haven’t been fixed (the screen doesn’t scroll, so you can’t see full file names, and even can’t see the BPM of some of the stock samples… like, come on!!!). And so many things, like, you can’t copy tracks!?? Still, I’ve really gotten into the flow with the Move on a number of occasions, and that has been great.

You have one choke group for each drum rack. You can manually select what pads are in the choke group. Select your pad and shift click the the big push encoder to access the menu. The menu is called “Filter and Setup”. You have access to a filter in there too.

It's not a Sampler it's a Simpler 😁
@DeeDeeCHAUNCEY4 күн бұрын
Simpler isn’t on Move, unfortunately. It uses the new Drum Sampler, which is good, but more limited than Simpler.

@DeeDeeCHAUNCEY - Yes we know, it was a joke referencing the context of the video question. Being a play on the names Ableton gives its instruments.

Yeah I think Ableton should listen to this

🤔 Thanks for the honest review bro. Most reviews are like "yeah it's great!" But you showed some real weak points. Liked and subscribed.
@Drrolfski14 күн бұрын
I like it but it's not a real beat chopper and probably was never designed to be. It's more of an on-the-go instant sketching device where you have most of your sounds and presets already installed. And for that it works very well, especially if you're an Ableton user. Way more intuitive than the SP 404 MK2 and even the MPC Live 2.

If you play your samples into line input im.sure you can chip it and then adjust the start and hold/length after. Also shift and hold i think does the length

You can lock shift by double clicking it, it help a lot for chopping sample and break.

You don't have to. Simply double-tap shift to lock it on.

Has anyone watched Free Beat's videos on the Move? Is it just me, or is this guy (Free Beat) pretending to know a lot more about Move and Ableton Live than he really does? kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5OVkmylr55mhtEsi=3X8algnxze_SG5Yn

Bro theres lazy chopping and you can double click shift. Maybe read the manual before making a video
@sebastianvega457611 күн бұрын
i agree with some of the workflow being unpractical for sampling. but dude, at least read the manual before you make a review. shift-lock, lazy choping and one manual choke group per drum rack are there...
@DeeDeeCHAUNCEY4 күн бұрын
You totally missed the point he made about choke groups.
@sebastianvega45764 күн бұрын
@@DeeDeeCHAUNCEY i do not care what you think what point he tried to make about choke groups. at 9:15 he says you cannot choke the open und closed hihats because he chose the "wrong" drum rack. that is simply not true, he just did not read the manual and assumed the feature is missing.

Terrible clickbait title
@MastaKraftprod13 күн бұрын
I don’t think so. It is a groove box much more than a sampler. It’s very clear by the internal design of the device, by its workflow, by the ridiculous decisions they made However for a groove box it’s a good thing!

@@MastaKraftprod But the words "honest' is clickbait for sure. Or did you lie on your other videos, because you name it now?

You don’t like the word honest?😀 why? Instead of many bloggers who constantly say that “everything is amaaaazing” I say and show how it actually is
